Our students are at it again...this time performing in a 'light' opera that turns the tables on the justice system! Huzzah!
OPENS THIS THURSDAY 29 AUGUST!!!!!
The Beggar’s (Thieves and Wh**es) Opera
by John Gay
a new and offbeat production of a classic 18th century play
The play is based on John Gay's 1728 hit, The Beggar's Opera. It presents the great double standard: that the world rewards the rich for committing the very crimes it punishes the poor. Given the growing gap between the rich and poor in our society with our take-over and throw-away ethic, The Beggar's (Thieves and Wh**es) Opera still has a strong contemporary message.
