The Llama Collective

We have had a big day here at The Llama Collective farm. After noticing some smoke this morning it quickly escalated into a large fire in the bush surrounding our property.
We had a huge amount of help and managed to catch, load and evacuate approximately 80 animals over a period of only about two hours before the fire closed the roads and we had to wait it out with the remaining animals.
A huge thanks to Jared from J & J Rural for helping by bringing out his float as well as many friends and family who mobilised to get as many cars and floats to the property as quickly as possible.
We also received amazing support from Cessnock Police Station who came to make sure we were ok and even showed off their animal handing skills by helping us load some of the animals. They also made sure the last vehicles got out safely before the flames blocked the road.
We were lucky enough to be assisted by the incredible RFS and a huge shout out to Millfield Rural Fire Brigade NSW RFS - Central - Cessnock Brigade NSW RFS - Vacy Brigade (and many others) as well as support from a couple of air tankers including the 737 Marie Bashir and some choppers as well who did an amazing job working to protect all the people and properties in the area. With the fire settling down now we’re all breathing a sign of relief. Tomorrow once we have the all clear we will be off to collect our giant animal family and bring them safely home. We are so grateful to all the men and women who have helped us today.

Wishing a very happy birthday to our beautiful Tyrion who turns 12 today! He was lucky enough to spend his birthday at Newcastle University for their stress less week. He was absolutely spoiled rotten and had a fantastic day. We are heading down to their Ourimbah campus tomorrow, we can’t wait to see everyone there!
