YOUTH MOCK TRIAL COUNCIL 2026

Last week, 4 students from were selected to represent CHC at the Youth Mock Council Competition.

Over the two days, our students actively engaged in civic activism by participating in workshops run by City Councillors, attending Q&A panels, hearing from guest speakers, and collaborating on local government issues affecting their communities. They also had the unique opportunity to write and present their own Notices of Motion at the Newcastle Council Chambers in City Hall, sparking meaningful conversations with Councillors and the Newcastle Mayor. This hands-on experience fuelled their passion for community change and gave them insight into the workings of local government.

It was an incredible and inspiring experience for all involved, and we’re proud of our students for their enthusiasm and commitment to making a difference in their community!

Yesterday CHC students were lucky enough to attend a workshop with international artist Dani Marti, hear about his practice and with his guidance create our own artworks. Thanks to the staff at Newcastle Art Gallery and Headspace for their organisation.
