One of the Big Picture Learning distinguishers is that "Everyone's a Leader"....And this week it's on full display!
Year 12 student Jackson is leading our CHC Drama for Social Action Group, planning and running weekly lessons using knowledge from his LTI with the Drama department at Newcastle High School.
Meanwhile, our own Admin superstar Anna has been working with the CHC Choir giving tips and tricks for practicing singing in a choir- no surprise, given she sings with the gold medal-winning Newcastle Chamber Choir. Next week she jets off to Scandinavia to perform in Copenhagen (including for the Australian Ambassador!) and then to compete at the World Choir Games in Sweden; basically the Choir Olympics! Thanks for working with our musicians Anna and Best of Luck! We can't wait to hear how you go!
Year 9 student Will is proof that when you follow your passions, incredible learning happens.
A qualified recreational pilot, Will has taken his love of aviation to new heights (literally).
Will is also a dedicated volunteer and emerging leader with St John Ambulance, and recently put that expertise to work running a student-led first aid training for his peers at CHC.
Other projects Will has done include building a table from scratch, exploring anatomy, and creating a business plan. As part of his business project, Will developed a real-world pricing tool that pilots can use to calculate flight costs and determine what to charge customers, turning his passion into a genuinely useful industry resource....Oh, and he's an amazing drummer and pianist.
This is what Big Picture Learning looks like in action: real projects, real rigour, and learning driven by genuine interest.
We can't wait to see where his passions take him next. 🙌

We love celebrating our graduates' success stories, and this one's a big one. Rosie, a CHC 2023 graduate, came to visit us between shifts on Monday. We are so proud to see she is not only working in a hospital but also now in her second year of University study in Nuclear Medicine.
Rosie cites CHC, and particularly the outlearning and exhibition experiences, as giving her the confidence and communication skills necessary for success in her work and studies!
Congratulations Rosie! It was so great to hear from you!
