Spirit House, Mokosh One

Recycled timber, acrylic paint.
New spirit houses incorporating Polish folk embroidery and "wycinanki", paper cut art - inspired patterning.
Key motifs include birds (protection and passage), fauna (connection to nature), and references to Mokosh and wheat (growth, love and creativity).
An exploration of my heritage, symbolism and contemporary spiritual forms.

“Polish Spell, Fertility”

This piece has found its home, but I wanted to share.
Lately I’ve been diving deeper into my Polish roots, especially Slavic folk traditions and pre-Christian paganism. There’s something in that ancient way of seeing the world that feels familiar, intriguing and grounding.
I’ve been delving into traditional embroidery and its symbolism. The motifs weren’t just decorations; they were representations (or spells) of protection, hope, abundance and good health. Every plant, pattern and stitch carried meaning, woven in by people whose lives were intimately tied to the land.
Their spirituality wasn’t separate from daily life. It lived in the weather, the crops, the forests, the seasons. It was a relationship with nature that shaped everything.
Creating this body of work is a way for me to reconnect with that lineage and to honour a time when beauty, ritual and survival were intertwined.
In a world that can feel disconnected and harsh, returning to these old motifs brings me a sense of rootedness and care. A reminder that we’re not separate from nature and that art holds the spiritual.

There I am with my mate Glen! One of many friends who showed their beautiful support on Friday night for the very celebratory opening of Play . Ground at the Owens Collective.
A very wonderful experience!
I shared with someone recently that I get homesick for Melbourne sometimes and wanted to recreate a feeling I had a lot back home of a combination of cultural and creative diversity with delicious food, wine, music, art and people.
All of that was achieved thanks to the very fine home made catering by the lovely live performance by .band and the gorgeous space of and of course the stunning art by all the 18 artists of Play . Ground from our fabulous community .
All 4 of my works sold and it was lovely to meet the buyers and connect through art and conversation.
This show runs until Sunday 16th Nov, open Fri Sat Sun 9-2. I urge you to make the time to come along and immerse yourself in each artist’s interpretation of "play".

Opening night for Play Ground last night was huge. On a number of levels. More updates to come. I'm overwhelmed!

Tree of Life from Holland
Rooted in the folk arts of my Polish and Dutch ancestry, this work draws from the embroidered patterns once sewn to protect, to bless and to honour our bond with nature.
In Dutch tradition, the Tree of Life symbolizes growth, fertility and the sacred link between earth and spirit, a living reminder of our place within the natural world.
This work will be included in Play . Ground as part of a beautiful group exhibition with opening this Friday at

Polish Phoenix

Rooted in my Polish heritage and Slavic folklore, this piece draws on the ancient symbol of the phoenix, a spirit of transformation, renewal and fierce creative rebirth.
Painted in traditional white and ultramarine blue, colours of purity and protection, it honours the cycles of destruction and creation that shape us.
