Celebrating student achievements are one of my favourite things!

This week Emilia received her certificate and results for her AMEB Grade 1 Repertoire Exam, she did a fantastic job and received a pass with credit! 🥳

We are now starting to prepare for her next exam ✨🎶

Sunday was our 2026 mid-year student concert! 🎶

All of the students put on and absolutely fabulous show and I am beyond proud of every single one of them. They all worked so hard to achieve what they have over the past two terms and I can’t wait to see what their determination achieves over the second half of the year 🤍✨

With our 2026 mid-year student concert coming up next Sunday it’s time to throw back to our 2025 mid-year student concert 🎶

Sophie was playing her toot last year, she was using the flute lip plate and completed the Windstars book as well as all the extension songs!

This year she has graduated to a silver flute and is doing a fantastic job smashing all of her goals. This is all because she was able to start at a young age using the toot, this allowed her to learn how to read music, how to make a sound with the correct embouchure as well as understanding and reading rhythms.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place: and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields

Welcome Back to Term 2! 🎶

Today marks the first day of term 2 and I can’t wait to get back into teaching 🤍

Term 2 always has our student mid-year concert, this year it’ll occur on Sunday 7th June, it’s a great opportunity for all students to get up and perform infront of an audience in a low pressure environment 🎫

Keep an eye out to see what students are working on this year

What an incredible Term 1 at Flute with Alyssa! 🎶💛

From lessons, practice wins, new systems to support our students, performances, and even a few adventures along the way… I am so proud of everything my students have achieved this term 👏✨

I wrapped up the term with a beautiful performance with Orchestra Nova, and I couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunities to keep growing as both a teacher and musician 💫

I am SO excited for Term 2 — we have some amazing things coming up, including our mid-year concert, where students will get to showcase all their hard work and progress 🎶🌟 (and yes… it’s going to be a special one!)

Thank you to all my wonderful students and families for being part of this amazing community — I can’t wait to see what Term 2 brings! 💖

Do you use a mirror in your practice? 🪞

Mirrors can be a great accessible tool for all ages and abilities. In the early stages students can use it to check their posture and check their embouchure. This assists with creating good muscle memory.

As students advance and get older the mirror can still be a great tool to assess posture and movement while playing. It isn’t very often that we get to see ourselves play, the mirror will allow us to improve how we perform.

Would love to hear and thoughts and ideas that you have ✨🎶🪞
