These locations might look amazing on camera, but they can be a nightmare for sound.

Both of our Cert IV film productions were filmed in wet room environments where every voice, footstep and sound bounces around the space. Capturing clean dialogue in locations like these takes patience, skill and plenty of creative problem solving.

Our student crews have risen to the challenge, working together to find solutions and deliver the best sound possible for their major productions.

Because in filmmaking, great sound is often the hardest thing to get right.

🎬🎧 We're proud of the dedication and professionalism shown by these students throughout production.

🎬 Meet TAFE Hunter Street Film graduate Daniel Culjak πŸŽ₯🚁

Great to catch up with Daniel on location, where he was shooting drone and camera footage for a corporate building company on a construction site.
Daniel is now a successful sole trader, with non-stop work filming for the corporate sector across the growing Hunter Region. πŸ™Œ
It’s fantastic to see our graduates building their own businesses, staying busy and putting their film and production skills to work in the industry.
Thanks for the catch-up, Daniel so great to see you doing so well! πŸ‘πŸŽ¬

🎬 Do you need purpose-built, professional film equipment to achieve the best possible results?
Yes.
But if you don't have it, don't let that stop you.
Creativity has always been a filmmaker's most valuable tool. When you understand the purpose of a piece of equipment, you can often find a creative alternative using what you already have.
No gimbal? Use a wheelchair, skateboard, or shopping trolley. No professional lighting? Use a window and a reflector. No cinema camera? Master the camera in your pocket.
Equipment helps. Creativity solves problems.

Kino Flo vs LED: Why Film Students Should Know Both

Before LEDs took over film sets, Kino Flo fluorescent lights were the go-to choice for cinematographers. Their legendary soft light created natural skin tones and beautifully wrapped around faces, making them a staple in film and TV production.

Today, LEDs offer fast colour adjustments, lower power consumption, and greater durability. But many filmmakers still love the unique, organic quality of a traditional Kino Flo.

πŸŽ₯ Lesson for film students: Technology evolves, but understanding classic lighting tools like Kino Flo helps you appreciate where modern lighting techniques come from and how different light sources shape the look of your images.

What's your preference: Classic Kino Flo Fluorescent or Modern LED Panels?
