🏆 RECAP: 2025 World Humanoid Robot Games, Beijing

NUbots were invited to the World Humanoid Robot Games to compete for gold in Beijing.

The games featured Olympic-style events such as sprinting and boxing, and partnered with RoboCup Asia-Pacific to bring soccer to the competition. Teams did not bring their own robots, instead, they were supplied with humanoid robots from leading Chinese robotics companies.

Just a month earlier, these same robots reshaped the RoboCup Humanoid League:

• Boosted HTWK won Kid Size with the Booster K1 model.
• Tsinghua Hephaestus won Adult Size with the Booster T1 model.

NUbots entered the 5v5 soccer competition with the Booster T1, joining forces with rUNSWift (UNSW) to play as a combined Australian super team.

The Australian team placed 5th overall , with 5 wins, 5 losses and 16 goals scored! 🎉

🇦🇺 Australia secures 5th place in the World Humanoid Robot Games! 🏆🌏

A combined effort from NUbots (University of Newcastle) and rUNSWift (UNSW Sydney RoboCup) has delivered an incredible result. With only a short preparation window and countless late nights, the team pulled together to compete against some of the best humanoid robotics groups in the world, achieving a result that reflects the dedication, innovation and teamwork of everyone involved.

We are honoured to represent Australia at RoboCup Asia-Pacific (RCAP) Beijing Masters and grateful for the opportunity to compete on the world stage.

After every RoboCup is the symposium, where research is presented by different teams. This year, Ysobel Sims, from NUbots, presented her research on "Zero-Shot Environmental Sound Classification Onboard a Resource-Constrained Robot". Congratulations to Ysobel and everyone who presented 🎉.

NUbots take 3rd place at RoboCup 2025! 🥉. Years of effort, innovation, and teamwork led to this incredible podium finish. Massive thanks to all the teams who competed and made this event unforgettable. Special shoutout to ZJU Dancers 🇨🇳, you pushed us to the limit in an epic match.

Frankie, Sarah and Kevin put up a good fight but we lost the semi finals. Its not over yet, we are still playing for a 3rd place finish against the ZJUDancers 🇨🇳. We are not live this time but make sure to watch our competitors play at 10:30AM BRT, 11:30PM AEST for the kid size final between Boosted HTWK 🇩🇪 and TH-MOS 🇨🇳.

We won the quarter finals 🎉. Thank you ITAndroids 🇧🇷 for a challenging match, 2 - 0. It's not over because the semi finals are still to come. Make sure to tune in at 6 pm BRT, 7 am AEST.
