We love these wise words. They sum up Kyokushin perfectly.
Not all karate is the same.
To the outside world, karate can look like one thing; a white uniform and a color belt. A few kicks and punches. But those who have stepped onto the mat know the truth very quickly:
The training matters. The standard matters.
Kyokushin is different.
Kyokushin was built on discipline, pressure, and the idea that spirit is revealed through hard training. It is not designed to make people feel comfortable. It is designed to make people stronger. Stronger in body, stronger in mind, and stronger in character.
In a Kyokushin dojo, students do not just memorize movements. They learn how to stay calm under pressure. They learn how to keep going when they are tired. They learn how to show respect, control emotion, and meet challenges head-on.
The conditioning is demanding. The kihon must be sharp. The kata must be disciplined. The kumite requires courage, timing, and composure. Every part of training asks something from you. It asks for effort. It asks for focus. It asks for honesty. You cannot fake progress on the mat. You either put in the work or you do not.
And that is exactly why Kyokushin changes people.
For children, it builds confidence, focus, respect, and mental toughness.
For teens, it provides structure, accountability, and a place to test themselves in a healthy way.
For adults, it becomes a way to sharpen the body, strengthen the mind, and reconnect with discipline in a world full of distraction.
Kyokushin is about becoming tougher through consistent effort.
It is not about ego. It is about humility.
It is not about looking the part. It is about earning it.
Every class is a chance to improve. Every round is a lesson. Every challenge on the mat becomes something you carry with you off the mat.
That is what makes Kyokushin different.
It is a method for building stronger people.
If you have been thinking about starting martial arts, or if you want training that pushes you with purpose, this is your invitation.

Another great training session for some of our terrific and hard working juniors yesterday.
Working hard every week to improve their skills, fitness, while showing great respect for each other and their Senpai.
We are so proud of these guys.

Who is Van Demon Kyokushin???
Our club is dedicated to the art and spirit of Kyokushin Karate – a martial art built on the values of discipline, respect, perseverance, and self-improvement. Training in Kyokushin develops not only martial skill, but also strength, endurance, mental toughness, and overall fitness that carries through to everyday life.
We are proud to have coaches who have represented our club at both national and international levels, bringing their knowledge and experience back to support every student. Our community is strong, supportive, and welcoming – everyone trains together, helping each other grow.
While we are based in New Norfolk, we are proud to welcome members from across the Hobart region, all training together in a strong, supportive community. Our coaches have represented the club at both national and international levels, bringing their knowledge and experience back to support every student.
As a not-for-profit club, our focus is on personal development and genuine achievement. In Kyokushin, grades and belts are earned, never bought – each step forward reflects hard work, commitment, and spirit.
Whether you are looking to improve your fitness, build resilience, or take your martial arts journey to the next level, you’ll find a home here.

Big news from our little dojo! 🥋
We’ve made a big change — we’re now a not-for-profit Kyokushin Karate club!
What does that mean for our members?
👉 One simple monthly membership fee – come to as few or as many classes suit you!
👉 No extra charges for gradings or “fast tracks” – everyone earns their belts through hard work and spirit, not extra payments.
👉 Every dollar stays in the club – helping us buy better gear, support events, and keep growing together.
Our Senpais are so passionate about Kyokushin that they volunteer their time to teach and support our students — that’s how much they believe in what we’re building.
This change lets us focus on what really matters: training hard, supporting each other, and building a strong Kyokushin community in the Hobart area.
Come be part of something built for the members, by the members.
👊 Osu!

Found this image, sort of shows biomechanics of how a formal Mae Geri synchronises a high knee and an unfolding leg to make a straight line with the toes. Also seems to show the guy mashing his toes because he forgot to pull them back…
Not that there’s anything wrong with thinking high-knee-then-thrust-forward. It works well for getting Logan out of your face when he comes up to you with a mouth full of slow bees 🐝
Have a great weekend legends
