NAIDOC week with the possums
10/07/2026
Throughout this week the Possums engaged in a variety of hands-on experience tailored towards their little hands demonstrating and celebrating the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. Amongst our 0-2 learning environment we value the development of hands on learning and find this an effective teaching method showcasing experiences including sensory trays , painting experiences , playdough ,natural processes , weaving , symbol recognition ( understanding patterns) and bush tucker cooking experiences as we shine a light towards incorporating these experiences amongst our program allowing each individual the opportunity to engage in the richness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture

The Koala Room celebrated NAIDOC Week through a range of meaningful experiences including exploring clay as a natural material and engaging in meaningful conversations about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
We welcomed Poppy Rick, who recently celebrated a milestone birthday, and the children made him a birthday cake.
The children also created artworks inspired by local Aboriginal artist Jess Hopcroft from Dhiyaan Art’s piece Safe Space, using symbols to represent places where they feel safe and the important people in their lives.

BUSH TUCKER GARDENS
Incorporating bush tucker throughout our gardens in all learning spaces is a powerful way to embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives, support sensory exploration and promote sustainability.
Recent gardening projects have focused on building our bush tucker, interspersing it throughout our play spaces to create an engaging interactive outdoor learning space.

🖤💛❤️ Sea of Hearts for Reconciliation ❤️💛🖤
During Reconciliation week 2026 Blinkies Early Education Centre participated in the Sea of Hearts Movement. Along with decorating hearts children, families, and educators have shared their thoughts, hopes, and commitments to reconciliation. These meaningful contributions will help inform and strengthen our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), ensuring it reflects the voices and aspirations of our community.
Together, we are creating a space where respect, understanding, and meaningful connections with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, cultures, and histories can flourish.
Thank you to all of our families and children for contributing your hearts and voices to this important initiative. Every heart represents a commitment to walking together towards a more inclusive and reconciled future.
A special thank you to Connecting the Dots Through Culture for supporting and inspiring our ongoing reconciliation journey.
At Blinkies Early Learning Centre, we are committed to listening to and valuing the voices of our children and families as we continue our journey.
