🌟Book Week 2026: A Symphony of Stories 🌟

📘📗📙📕📘📗📙📕

I wonder if rapper Pitbull ever reads Charlotte’s Web? Or if Angus Young from AC/DC picks up The Gruffalo?

Maybe Tina Turner once flipped through Where the Wild Things Are, and Roy Orbison once enjoyed The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Would Harry Styles get into The Day the Crayons Quit, or the Wiggles dance through Possum Magic?

I bet Sia and Pink have both read Harry Potter!

And maybe Dolly Parton—whose kindness and stories brightened the world—is sharing Goodnight Moon with a smile, just as she always did.

Ok, so our connection to this year’s theme, A Symphony of Stories, might be a bit of a stretch (symphony – music stars – get it?), but in Book Week, anything is possible. The only limits are your imagination.

Our teachers always bring their A-game when it comes to dressing up for the occasion —and this year was no exception.

And just when we least expected it, two ninjas and the character Spinifex from The Last Alchemist arrived on the scene—proving that in our Symphony of Stories, there’s room for musicians, shadowy warriors, alchemists and more! As well as so many amazing books.

A big thanks to our Starlight Captains for organising a wonderful book parade through the wards of the hospital.

From one of our amazing ward teachers last week:

Today, I had the joy of working with a super energetic young learner who’s currently on the sidelines from sports due to injury. To keep the fun and curiosity alive, we dived into the fascinating world of physical science with Makey Makey!

Using magic clay, we crafted our own piano keys and discovered how to create circuits through the power of our bodies. It was an exciting way to stay active, explore STEM, and spark creativity—even while in hospital.

Science + creativity = endless possibilities!

💡 What hands-on science activity have you enjoyed recently, either at school or at home? Share your ideas and inspire others!

What happens when teachers and students swap uniforms for pyjamas?

Pure joy! ❤

Today was Pyjama Day at John Hunter Hospital School, and our J1 classroom was full of happy, silly faces (and a few pretend snoozers).

But PJ Day isn’t just about comfy clothes and fun—it’s about showing support for Stewart House, a wonderful charity that provides free health checks, dental care, counselling, and respite programs for NSW public school children in need. By wearing our PJs, we show we care for others and help spread awareness for this wonderful cause.

It’s a day of togetherness, kindness, and being yourself!

Thank you to everyone who made today extra special. Our comfiest day is also our most caring!
