We are delighted to be able to share the story of our 2026 National Conference artwork, designed by the amazing artist Niketa Law.

Niketa is a proud Wulgurukaba/Wakka Wakka woman from Cherbourg, Queensland. Her work beautifully captures the way that History connects cultures, putting First Nations perspectives at the heart of our understanding, and honouring their place in the many stories of our nation.

Join us Wednesday 8th - Thursday 9th July to see Niketa's vision in action. Come and share 'Many Stories, Many Voices' with History educators from across Australia.

⭐️NEW Keynote news!⭐️

We are delighted to make our second keynote announcement for the HTAA National Conference in July.

Opening our Conference at the State Library of Queensland on Wednesday 8th July will be Michael Wesley, Professor of Politics and Deputy Vice Chancellor (Global, Culture and Engagement) at the University of Melbourne.

One of Professor Wesley’s key research themes is Australian foreign policy, particularly in relation to the Asia Pacific. His latest Quarterly Essay, Blind Spot, explores the future of our region and posits that “Australia has forgotten what keeps it safe”.

Professor Wesley’s lecture, History vs Geography: Australia’s Geopolitical Challenges and the Uses of History will explore the implications of using different histories to understand current geopolitical challenges.

QHTA would like to acknowledge the generosity of the University of Queensland and the University of Southern Queensland in supporting the conference and helping to bring Professor Wesley to the event.
