Our Place Preschool

Our Place Preschool is a child care service owned and operated by Jan Slade. We cater for children from 3 years to school age.

Providing play-based early childhood education on beautiful Worimi Country for children aged 3 years and older 💛 Jan has been working with children and families for the past 25 years in a variety of childcare services. More recently Jan successfully owned and operated Nelson Bay Preschool before making the decision to buy land in the Nels

on Bay CBD and build a purpose built preschool. This was done in conjunction with our sister service "Our Place Playschool". This is owned and operated by Mark and Natasha O'Sullivan. Both services are on blocks that are side by side and complement each other. This allows families to have their children attend the services from 0 to school age. Both services have a strong focus on Play Based learning with family and community input being valued and welcomed. Our Place Preschool is based on family values, with Jan and her daughter Victoria working in the service. Jan has adult children and 11 beautiful grandchildren, that age from newborn to 11 years. Our educators are professional, passionate and dedicated to providing your child with the best opportunities to explore and grow. We recognise each child is unique and strive to work with them from a strength based approach, focusing on skills and interests.

Community Event 🤍

Murrook Festival returns in 2026 with this year’s theme "MIRRIIYNDJA DALIGA Under the Stars" .

Bringing people together beneath the stars, this year’s festival is about community, shared experiences and celebrating together.

Hosted by the Worimi Local Aboriginal Land Council aka Murrook Culture Centre , the festival welcomes everyone to come along and enjoy a family-friendly and affordable evening filled with performers, music, dance, storytelling, food, activities and entertainment.

WHEN: Saturday 14 November 2026
TIME: 5:00PM – 9:00PM
WHERE: Williamtown
GETTING THERE: Free parking, dedicated bus transfers and easy access.

After welcoming many last year in 2025, we can’t wait to bring everyone together again!
