The participants of the Australia Awards Short Course on Accessing Climate Finance for Pakistan, delivered by Griffith University, gathered online for their final workshop!

Course Leaders Associate Professor Rob Hales, Professor Christoph Nedopil Wang and Rita O’Sullivan led the workshop where participants had the opportunity to display the knowledge and insights gained throughout the course by presenting their projects to course leaders and fellow participants.

Thirty emerging leaders from across Papua New Guinea recently gathered in Port Moresby for the Australia Awards Papua GEDSI Short Course, a four-week program focused on advancing women's leadership and strengthening inclusive development outcomes.

Facilitated by Griffith University academics Dr Samantha Rarrick, Dr Inez Faingaa-Manu Sione and Professor Barbara Pini, the course combined interactive workshops, presentations, Tok Stori sessions, site visits and reflective learning activities designed to build participants’ leadership capabilities and policy engagement skills.

The program explored the role of women leaders across education, family, workplaces, sport, culture and policy. Participants engaged with key GEDSI issues through discussions on education policy, small business development, maternal and family care, and pathways to more inclusive leadership and decision-making.

Through collaborative workshops, participants evaluated existing policies and programs, examined different leadership styles, identify mentorship opportunities, and mapped critical policy issues affecting women’s leadership in Papua New Guinea.

We are delighted to welcome participants of the Australia Awards Papua New Guinea The Business of Sports in PNG Study Tour to Griffith University.

This week-long program brings together 28 sport professionals from across Papua New Guinea, representing a diverse range of sectors including sport, education, government, community development, and corporate organisations.

Led by Dr Caroline Riot and Professor Kevin Filo, this Study Tour will take participants across the Gold Coast and Brisbane, engaging with leading organisations such as Southport Sharks, QSport, Sporting Wheelies, and the Gold Coast Titans.

Throughout the program, participants will learn best-practice approaches to sport management and governance, promote inclusive participation through gender equity and community engagement, develop practical workplace projects for sport development in Papua New Guinea, gain insights into athlete pathways and sport business, and engage with industry leaders through site visits.

The cohort brings a wealth of experience across leadership, governance, athlete development, sport-for-development, and community engagement, all contributing to a stronger, more inclusive sport system in Papua New Guinea.

Griffith University was delighted to welcome a delegation for the Australia Awards Public University Management Leaders Study Tour (Bangladesh) Australian Professional Opportunity to the Brisbane South (Nathan) campus for a morning of rich dialogue and knowledge exchange on higher education leadership, best practice, and pathways for future collaboration.

The visit featured an insightful discussion and Q&A with Professor Rebecca Ford on Research Pathways and Higher Degree Research (HDR) through the Griffith Graduate Research School, followed by an engaging dialogue forum led by Professor Sarojni Choy on Navigating Higher Education Management. It concluded with a networking morning tea, bringing together members of Griffith's academic and research community for meaningful conversation and connection. We look forward to strengthening these global connections and fostering ongoing partnerships.

Griffith University welcomes participants of Australia Awards Indonesia Advancing the Research into Commercialisation Agenda Program, funded by the Australian Government to Brisbane.

The cohort of 24 participants from across Indonesia will engage in a program spanning Brisbane and Canberra, featuring insights from leading experts at Griffith University and industry. The program includes contributions from specialists in science, research commercialisation, innovation, and technology, including Course Leaders Professor Dian Tjondronegoro, Adjunct Professor The Hon. Paul Lucas, Ms Sally McPhee and expert Dr Peter Riddles AM.

Drawing on Australia’s experience in bridging research and industry, the program is designed to be highly practical and outcomes-focused. It combines tools, templates, and peer learning to support Indonesian policymakers and research leaders in accelerating research translation and advancing the national commercialisation agenda.

Participants of Australia Awards Papua New Guinea Sports Short course: The Business of Sport in PNG have come together in Port Moresby for an intensive two week program delivered by Griffith University and funded by the Australian Government.

Course Leaders Dr Caroline Riot and Professor Kevin Filo have joined 30 industry professionals for a program designed to build participants’ understanding, capability, and skills to strengthen sporting and recreation infrastructure and management to world-class standards. The course will develop business competencies that foster an enabling environment for sport sector growth, enhancing skills to grow and innovate the business of sport in PNG.

Participants in the Australia Awards South Asia & Mongolia Short Course on Training on Diplomacy and International Relations for Mongolia, delivered by Griffith University, gathered online for their final workshop.

During the two day Applied Learning Activities workshop, participants showcased their hard work by presenting their return to work projects to course leaders and peers, applying the insights and knowledge they had gained throughout the course.

A huge thank you to all participants for their dedication and engagement.

We looked forward to seeing them drive meaningful and lasting change in Mongolia.
