The Preschool children went on a local walk exploring the Narwee community, observing road signs, traffic signals and pedestrian crossings while engaging in conversations about road safety. As active participants, they connected their learning to real-world experiences and developed an understanding of how to navigate their community safely.

ALL IN- This Reconciliation Week, our Nursery children engaged in sensory exploration through natural elements, texture and colour, creating opportunities to connect, investigate and express themselves through play.
This experience supports children to build early understandings of identity, respect and connection to Country, while recognising the importance of embedding Indigenous perspectives from the earliest years. Sensory exploration provides young children with opportunities to communicate, investigate and make meaning through play, reinforcing that reconciliation is a shared responsibility that begins with listening, learning and belonging together.

Our Preschool children visited Narwee Public School, where they spent time exploring the Kindergarten learning environment and engaging with the school community. Experiences such as these play an important role in supporting children to build confidence, familiarity and a sense of belonging as they prepare for their transition to school.
The ongoing partnership between Goodstart Narwee and Narwee Public School continues to strengthen as we work collaboratively to create meaningful and supportive pathways for children and families. By building connections between early learning and school settings, we are helping children approach this next chapter with confidence, curiosity and a strong foundation for learning.

Road safety is an important conversation within our Preschool room, supporting children to build awareness of how to keep themselves safe in everyday situations.
Through group discussions and drawing experiences, children explored what road safety means to them, sharing their understandings of crossing roads safely, recognising traffic signals and staying aware of their surroundings. Their drawings became powerful representations of their thinking, experiences and growing understanding of personal safety.
These conversations help children develop the confidence, awareness and decision-making skills needed to navigate the world around them safely.

In our Nursery, the children have been exploring colour through painting as a language for expression, investigation and communication. Using their hands, fingers and various brushes, children engaged in mark making that encouraged them to experiment with movement, texture and the visual impact of colour combinations.
As the children make marks, mix colours and manipulate paint across paper, they are developing early understandings of cause and effect, sensory awareness, fine motor coordination and spatial thinking. The process also provides opportunities for children to communicate ideas, represent experiences and build confidence in their ability to make choices and influence their environment.
By offering open-ended creative experiences, educators create space for children to think, explore and respond in ways that are meaningful to them. The marks children make are not simply paintings; they are evidence of thinking, experimentation and emerging theories about the world around them.

Our Schoolies had their first visit to Narwee Public School as part of the Year 5 Buddy Program.
The visit provided a meaningful opportunity for the children to build confidence, independence and a sense of belonging in a school environment. Through connecting with their Year 5 buddies, the children were supported to develop communication skills, social confidence, cooperation and positive relationships with older peers.
As part of our ongoing transition to school program, these visits will support children to navigate new environments, engage with school routines and build confidence beyond their familiar early learning setting.
