As we prepare for another school year it is important to take stock of where we are at and where we are going. What will 2018 hold for you and the students you teach? There are so many unknowns, but there is a lot you can do to prepare for what might lie ahead. This article by Rebecca Alber shares a few handy tips to prepare for the start of the school year.
If you are new to teaching, may this year be all you hoped it would be. Teaching is not an easy profession and there will be challenges, but prepare yourself as best you can and surround yourself with wise counsel.
If you are changing schools this year, remember to listen to those around you and learn about your new community. Schools all have a lot in common, but each is also unique, so take the time to get to know your new school.
If 2018 is another year in the same job at the same school, try to see if through fresh eyes. Challenge yourself to learn about your new students and new colleagues to see what they can bring to the table to enrich your school community.
