Our Class Fours performed a Norse play last week to critical acclaim! But it was more than just a performance. In the words of the class teacher -

Undertaking a collaborative task such as a play provides enormous learning potential for the children. Not only are they accountable to one another in learning their lines and working together to pull off a performance; they are also standing vulnerable in front of an audience. Playing the role of another invites understanding of diversity and differences. The opportunity for a growth of confidence and emotional intelligence, a potential insight into social cohesion, all wrapped up with an academic immersion in History and language expression, not to mention artistic development, is simply marvellous and fun.

We are thrilled with this term's fund-raising effort. We managed to raise $510 from the sale of items donated to our charity table and happily present it to the ILF in support of its exceptional educational and cultural programs.

I'm fundraising to help the ILF give remote Communities across Australia, access to culturally relevant books, including early learning board books, resources, and programs to support Communities to create and publish their stories in languages of their choice.

We are excited to dust off our larger than life lantern - King Winter - and join in the Belgrave Lantern Festival again this Saturday. Our whole community is warmly invited to join us at 4.30 at the Belgrave library with your lanterns to prepare to walk the parade with King Winter.

At two separate Reconciliation events in the past week, our Classes 5 and 6, and then Classes 3 and 4 have gone out into the community to sing Bunjil's Wings, our new school song written by our inspiring music teacher Judy Hamilton. We hope to shortly release a recording of it, as we are so proud of the words, the intent, and the music of our amazing school song!

As part of their Botany studies, Class Five headed off to Sherbrooke forest on a misty morning to discover the abundance of lichen, moss, mushrooms and ferns. How lucky we are to have this ancient forest in our backyard.

Our Preps have created their very own Pom Pom Bunnies - perfect for cuddling during rest and story time. Our Prep program is at our Early Childhood campus which has an Open Day this Saturday 10am-12pm. All welcome to come along and meet our Prep and Kinder teachers, and explore our rooms and gardens. @51 School Rd, Menzies Creek.
