SOCK Week โ€“ Positive Rewards ๐Ÿ‘ฎ

During SOCK Week, local police will be keeping an eye out for adults and children making safe choices on our roads, pathways, and farms.

Whether you're driving responsibly, wearing your seatbelt, crossing safely, riding your bike with a helmet, travelling safely to and from the school bus, or following the road rules, you could be rewarded with a free coffee or milkshake voucher to redeem at the cafรฉ.

We know many local children travel to and from school via the school bus. We'd love parents and carers to send through photos of their children demonstrating safe habits, such as wearing helmets while riding to the bus stop, using appropriate safety gear, and making safe choices around vehicles and machinery on the farm.

Safe habits should be practised every day, but SOCK Week is all about recognising and celebrating those who are doing the right thing. So keep an eye outโ€”you never know when a positive reward might come your way!

๐ŸŒง๏ธ Makuru โ€“ The Noongar Season of Cold and Rain ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

We are now in Makuru, one of the six Noongar seasons. Occurring during June and July, Makuru is a time of colder weather, increased rainfall and flowing waterways as Country responds to the winter season.

For thousands of years, Noongar people have observed the changing environment to guide seasonal living, caring for Country and understanding the connections between people, plants, animals and place.

As we move through Makuru, we take the opportunity to learn from and reflect on the rich knowledge and traditions of the Noongar people.

We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this land and pay our respects to Elders past, present and emerging.

At REED, we value opportunities to learn from and celebrate the rich cultural knowledge of First Nations peoples and their enduring connection to Country.

๐Ÿ’› Quality Area 5 โ€“ Relationships with Children ๐Ÿ’›

At REED Narembeen, we recognise that strong, respectful and trusting relationships are at the heart of every childโ€™s learning and wellbeing.

We prioritise warm interactions, consistent care, and responsive communication so every child feels safe, valued, and a true sense of belonging within our service.

Through everyday momentsโ€”listening, guiding, playing, and supportingโ€”we build meaningful connections that help children feel confident to explore, learn, and grow.

Because when children feel secure in their relationships, everything else follows.
