📚🐾 Trixie is SO Excited for the Scholastic Book Fair! 🐾📚

Our favourite four-legged team member has been checking out the Scholastic Book Fair and, judging by these photos, we think Trixie might already have a few favourites picked out! 🐶❤️

The Book Fair is now open in our foyer and will be running until 4th September, giving families plenty of time to browse the fantastic selection and find some new stories to take home.

Once Trixie has finished browsing, make sure you take a look! Order forms are available at the front desk. Families can pay using tap and pay in the office with Sheri, Kylie or Alicia, or use the QR code provided on the order form to complete their purchase.

And remember, buying a book doesn't just add a new story to your collection at home. 📖 The more books purchased by our community, the more books Scholastic awards back to Goodstart Narangba, helping us add even more wonderful stories to our children's learning spaces.

Trixie gives the Book Fair four paws up! 🐾📚

🌻💛 Growing in Our Own Time 💛🌻

If you've walked through our entrance recently, you may have noticed a very special new addition standing tall and bright — our beautiful sunflower has finally bloomed!

What makes this sunflower particularly special is that it was planted from a tiny seed last year. While other plants have grown, flowered and changed around it, this little seed has taken its own time. With sunshine, water, care and patience, it continued growing until it was ready to bloom.

It's a beautiful reminder of something we see every day in early childhood: everyone grows at their own pace. 🌱

Children don't all learn, develop or reach milestones at exactly the same time... nor should we expect them to! Just like our sunflower, with the right environment, encouragement and support, children can be given the time and space they need to grow in their own way.

Sometimes, the things worth waiting for simply need a little longer to bloom. 🌻

🌱🪱 Little Hands, Big Impact 🪱🌱

Our Toddler 1 children have been exploring the wonderful world of composting alongside Miss Sam, discovering how everyday food scraps can be transformed into something valuable for our environment.

As children added fruit scraps to our compost tumbler, they learned that composting is a natural process that breaks down organic materials into nutrient-rich compost. Together, we discussed how this compost helps nourish our worm farm and provides the nutrients needed for our vegetable garden to flourish.
These hands-on experiences help children develop an understanding of sustainability from an early age, showing them that even small actions—like composting leftover fruit—can have a positive impact on the world around them.

By actively participating in caring for our compost, worm farm, and garden, children are building an appreciation for nature, learning where food comes from, and discovering how everything in the environment is connected. 🌿🍎🍅

🌿✨ The Beauty of Open-Ended Play ✨🌿

There is no right or wrong way to explore open-ended materials—only endless opportunities for creativity, discovery, and imagination.

Using playdough alongside a collection of loose parts, the children experimented with rolling, pressing, arranging, and creating. Natural materials, textured tools, and familiar objects became invitations for children to explore in ways that reflected their own interests and ideas.

Open-ended experiences such as these support far more than creativity. As children manipulate materials, they are strengthening fine motor skills, developing hand strength for future writing, solving problems, making decisions, and expressing their thinking in meaningful ways. Every child approaches the experience differently, demonstrating that the process of learning is just as important as the final creation.

At Goodstart Narangba, we value experiences that encourage children to explore without expectation, knowing that some of the richest learning happens when imagination is given the freedom to lead. 🌱💚

🎨✨ The Power of Creative Expression ✨🎨

At Goodstart Narangba, we believe that art is about so much more than creating a finished product—it's about the process of exploring, experimenting, and expressing ideas.

By introducing children to a variety of artistic mediums, such as chalk, children are encouraged to investigate how different materials look, feel, and respond to their movements. As they draw, scribble, blend colours, and create patterns, they are strengthening fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and the small muscles needed for future writing.

Expressive art also provides children with opportunities to communicate their thoughts, emotions, and imagination in ways that don't always require words. There is no right or wrong way to create, allowing children to build confidence, make independent choices, and celebrate their own unique ideas.

These open-ended experiences nurture creativity, curiosity, and self-expression while reminding children that the joy of creating is just as valuable as the artwork itself. 🌈🖍️

👖💙 Jeans for Genes Day 💙👖

Today, our educators proudly swapped their usual uniforms for jeans to show their support for Jeans for Genes Day.

This annual initiative helps raise awareness and vital funds for children and families affected by genetic conditions, supporting research, advocacy, and essential services that make a real difference in people's lives.

At Goodstart Narangba, we believe in fostering a culture of kindness, compassion, and community. By participating in days like this, we not only support important causes but also model for children the value of caring for others and contributing to the wider community.

Thank you to our amazing team for getting involved and helping spread awareness. Together, we can make a difference—one pair of jeans at a time. 💙

🚨❤️ Always Ready to Respond ❤️🚨

At Goodstart Narangba, the safety and wellbeing of every child is our highest priority.

Recently, our team participated in a medical emergency drill, providing educators with the opportunity to practise their emergency response procedures in a realistic scenario. These regular drills help ensure our team remains confident, knowledgeable, and prepared to respond quickly and effectively should a real emergency ever occur.

By rehearsing emergency situations, educators strengthen their understanding of roles and responsibilities, refine their communication and teamwork, and maintain the skills needed to provide the highest standard of care. These practice scenarios also allow us to reflect on our procedures and continuously improve our emergency preparedness.

While we hope these skills are never needed, we believe that regular training and practice are essential in creating a safe and secure environment for every child and family.

At Goodstart Narangba, we're committed to being prepared—because when it comes to children's safety, every second matters.
