💜 WEAR IT PURPLE DAY 2026! 💜

Yesterday, our school community came together to celebrate Wear It Purple Day — a day dedicated to fostering supportive, safe and inclusive environments and reminding every young person that they belong! 🫶💜

Our students embraced the day by wearing purple and getting involved in some fantastic lunchtime activities, including:
💜 Bracelet Making
💜 Badge Making
💜 Rock Painting 🎨

It was wonderful to see our students creating, connecting and celebrating inclusion, kindness and belonging together.

📚✨ BOOK WEEK 2026 AT NVSHS! ✨📚

What an incredible week of celebrating books, stories and the joy of reading! ❤️📖

Our Book Week celebrations kicked off with book-themed Kahoot games and our much-loved Blind Date with a Book, giving students the chance to choose a surprise book to take home and enjoy. 📚💫

Our classes then got involved in the Masked Reader Challenge, putting their detective skills to the test as they tried to guess the mystery readers! 🕵️‍♀️📖

Our school leaders also headed over to the Primary School to assist with their Book Week judging.

And, of course, we finished with our fabulous Book Week Parade! 🎉

Students proudly showed off their incredible costumes, bringing some of our favourite book characters to life.

From creative DIY costumes to instantly recognisable characters, the effort and imagination on display were amazing!

A HUGE shout-out to our wonderful teachers too! 👏 Their enthusiasm, creativity and fantastic costumes helped make Book Week extra special. 🌟

It was a VERY hard choice for our judges, but five worthy winners were selected! 🏆🎉 Each winner received a book and a tuckshop voucher — Congratulations! 📚🥳

A massive thank you to everyone who got involved and helped make the week such a success.

🏐 A huge day of sport at Albany Creek! 🏐

On Monday our NVSHS students had an exciting opportunity to take part in Netball exhibition games against Albany Creek!

We took a group of Year 7/8 netball girls to hit the court against Albany Creek, gaining valuable game experience and building their skills along the way! 🏐💪

These exhibition matches provided an incredible opportunity for our students to learn, grow and gain important match experience as we look ahead to next year's competitions.

Well done to all of our students who represented NVSHS with enthusiasm, teamwork and great sportsmanship! We can't wait to see what next year brings! 💙💛

🦘What a HUGE success for the Arinya House activity! 🦘

💚Our students had an absolute blast taking their turn at sliming our brave teachers — with our Deputy and even our Principal getting in on the messy fun! 😂🪣💚

😆There were plenty of laughs, lots of slime and some very brave staff members!

👏 What a fantastic effort by Arinya House!
You certainly know how to bring the fun and House spirit! 💜💚

MAGPIE ALERT – NESTING SEASON ⚠️

🐦 Magpies are currently nesting on our school grounds.
Magpies and other native birds may swoop to protect their eggs, nests and young.

Swooping season generally occurs between July and December and usually lasts only a few weeks while chicks are in the nest.

Stay Safe by adhering to the following:
✔️ Take an alternative route where possible
✔️Protect your face and eyes by wearing:
✔️A hat
✔️Sunglasses
✔️Or carrying an umbrella
✔️ If riding a bicycle, dismount and walk
✔️ Stay calm and walk quickly through the area

❌ Do not wave your arms
❌ Do not yell at the bird
❌ Do not throw objects
❌ Do not attempt to disturb nests or young birds

Remember:
Magpies are protecting their young and will usually stop swooping once their chicks leave the nest. Please be aware of signage and report any aggressive swooping behaviour to the Administration Office.

Come along in free dress (normal non-uniform rules apply) and show your support for our amazing and diverse community. A gold coin donation is required to participate in free dress.

At Lunch 1, head to the Tiered Area for a range of fun activities led by our Guidance Officers, including:

🇪🇸🥘 ¡Hola a todos! What a delicious day of Spanish! 🥘🇪🇸

Yesterday, our Year 9, 10, 11 and 12 Spanish students enjoyed a fantastic Spanish food incursion hosted by The Paella Man, Juan, and our NVSHS Spanish staff! 👏

Juan cooked up two delicious pans of paella — a mouth-watering chicken & chorizo paella and a tasty vegan paella. 🤤🥘

But this wasn’t just about enjoying amazing food… our students had to put their Spanish skills into action! 🇪🇸🗣️

Students were encouraged to order their meals en español, while Juan kept them on their toes with follow-up questions along the way! What a fantastic way to build confidence and practise real-world language skills. 💬✨

Our NVSHS Spanish staff are incredibly proud of the way our students challenged themselves, stepped outside their comfort zones and gave their Spanish a go! 👏❤️
