HONOURING THE LIFE OF BRIAN EVISON🕊️
It is with great sadness, and still a sense of shock, that we share the passing of our very dear friend and brother in Christ, Brian Evison, who passed away suddenly and peacefully on Thursday morning.
Brian was a faithful and steady presence in our church family from the very beginning. As a founding member of Accelerate Church, he has been part of the fabric of who we are, and more than that, he was a treasured friend to so many of us.
His life was marked by faithful service to God and His Kingdom. For almost two decades, Brian generously gave his time, wisdom and experience, serving voluntarily on the boards of various ministry arms of Accelerate Educational Ministries (Southern Cross Educational Enterprises) and Unity College Australia, faithfully investing in the work of the Kingdom right to the very end.
His presence, wisdom, encouragement, friendship and faithful contribution will be sorely missed.
While we grieve and are still coming to terms with such a sudden loss, we are deeply encouraged by the sure hope we have in Jesus. We know that Brian has finished his race faithfully and is now with the Lord he loved and served.
The words of Paul feel especially fitting as we honour Brian:
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.” 2 Timothy 4:7–8
Please join us in covering Brian’s son Denis, his daughter Sally-Anne, and their families in prayer. Jesus is well acquainted with grief and close to the brokenhearted, and our prayer is that they would know His presence, peace and comfort in a very real way in the days ahead.
We will share details of Brian’s Celebration of Life as arrangements are confirmed.
If you have a testimony, memory or tribute you would like to contribute, please share them below.
We will miss you dearly, Brian. Thank you for your friendship, your faithfulness, and the many years you gave so generously to the Kingdom.
You fought the good fight. You finished the race. You kept the faith. And now, the crown of righteousness ❤️
