Naracoorte South Primary School

Naracoorte South Primary School This is the official page for Naracoorte South Primary School. Naracoorte South Primary School is characterized by its inclusive ethos.

People matter here. The school community embraces the challenges inherent in its diversity, valuing and supporting one another to be the best that they can be.Over many years the school enrolment has reflected several languages other than English. A feature of the school is its strong parent governance. Open communication, with participation in decision making and goal setting are the responsibili

ty of all stakeholders. Students are valued for who they are and what they bring to their learning. Academic achievement and student wellbeing is the business of all employees in partnership with families. This school is recognised for its focus in Science, with a Science Laboratory facilitated by Industry partner, Scientist Dan Newson. The partnership is an example of the school's innovative and sustainable practices in collaboration with local agencies and businesses. The Environment Centre is where students produce vegetables, herbs and eggs for sale and use in the school canteen. The interest in the Environment Centre has lead to the development of a propagation area, where native flora to re-vegetate the school's 4.5 hectares of natural scrub will occur. Physical Education and Music along with History and Social Sciences are delivered by specialist subject teachers. Whole school agreements in Literacy and Numeracy aided by a Coach, assists in monitoring the achievements of all students. Naracoorte South Primary School has received national recognition for its whole site model with systematic data collection and subsequent teaching cycles to deliver curriculum. The school is renowned for its profile of quality staff, where many teachers are recent recipients of state and regional awards in education. All SSOs who work with students have either completed or are enrolled in Certificate III in Education Support . Succession planning, professional learning opportunities and mentoring colleagues are priorties at NSPS, with the result that several aspirational leaders now lead schools in their own rignt. Graduate teachers flourish, providing reciprocal learning partnerships with Step 9 and Advanced Skills Teachers. Prudent resource allocation, accurate financial management with regular review, enables the carrying forward of a class above allocation - resulting in the average class size of 24 in Middle and Upper Primary and around 22 in Junior Primary. Buses from the southern outlying districts stop at Naracoorte South Primary and students can access OSHC via bus, from our site to Naracoorte Primary. Naracoorte Early Learning Centre also offer a drop off/pick up service to students up to the age of 6. Kirsty Lush , Principal

πŸ“šA Visit from Our Local Library! πŸ“š

Room 5 and Room 7 had a very special visit from Tara from our local Naracoorte Library + Town Hall! πŸ’›

Tara shared all the wonderful things our local library has to offer, from books and games to exciting events and activities that families can get involved in.

Our students loved listening to a story before putting their animal knowledge to the test with a fun quiz after exploring a non-fiction book all about animals! 🐘🦁🐯

There were lots of smiles, plenty of learning and some very impressive animal knowledge on show! It was fantastic to see our students so engaged and excited to learn more about the wonderful opportunities available through our local library.

A big thank you to Tara for spending time with us and sharing your love of books and learning! πŸ“–πŸ’•

What a fantastic morning we had last Friday celebrating Book Week at NSPS!

Our students and staff looked amazing as they came dressed as their favourite book characters, bringing our β€œSymphony of Stories” theme to life! It was wonderful to see so much creativity, imagination and enthusiasm throughout the school.

A special thank you to the Naracoorte High School student leaders for joining us on the morning and helping to judge our Most Creative Costume and Best Themed Costume awards.

Thank you to all our families for helping make the morning such a wonderful celebration of books and reading. πŸ“šβ€οΈ

πŸ“šβœ¨ Book Week Book Swap! βœ¨πŸ“š

What a fantastic way to celebrate Book Week! Our Reception, Year 1–2, Year 3–4 and Year 5–6 students came together for a wonderful Book Swap.

Students brought along books they had already enjoyed reading from home and received a token to exchange for a new-to-them book from another student. It was wonderful to see so much excitement, sharing and love of reading across our school! πŸ“–πŸ’›

A huge success and a fantastic reminder that books are always better when they are shared! πŸ“šπŸ₯°
