If you are in Naracoorte and thinking about going to playgroup, all ages is in the morning between 9-11 and baby playgroup in the afternoon 1:30-2:30.

This week we will make cards for someone special for Father’s Day. Playgroup is for everyone, even dads.

We have a focus on following the child’s lead during play, talking with children about what they are doing and noticing. This assists in language development, numeracy concepts and connection.

A supported playgroup is a great place to start if you haven’t yet ventured out to the busier programs.

Baby playgroup is a calm, welcoming space to connect with your baby and other families in the area.

We are alongside the toy library at Naracoorte Primary School. Park in the visitor carpark.

This Wednesday is Early Childhood Educators Day! Because we have educators working across the week we are making our own rules and celebrating them all week!

How lucky are we to have so many kind, passionate and down right amazing humans supporting our children and families.

This week we show our appreciation as we celebrate them! Thank you for all that you do, you really are incredible humans we are so blessed to have you all at MDMK.

Please see some kind words from some of our families below.

I feel very privileged to have both of our children at MDMK. All the Staff are welcoming, kind and supportive. When asked what the boys wanted to tell the staff they said they love playing with them, they are kind, fun, lovely, helpful and friendly.

The educators are caring, kind and supportive ❤️

You have all been incredibly caring and supportive of our daughter. We really appreciate the time you take to understand our daughter, encourage her strengths and help her feel safe, included and confident. It means a lot to us knowing our daughter is surrounded by educators who genuinely care about her.

They are fantastic take the time my daughter needs and that's beautiful.

Happy Early Childhood Educators 'Week' 💚

At MDMK our learning spaces have been filled with curiosity, creativity, collaboration and loads of fun! We have been busy designing and building cubbies, solving puzzles, exploring living things, building train tracks and mark making. The children have been busy learning through play and shared experiences.

These experiences nurture the Early Years Learning outcomes while supporting dispositions including curiosity, cooperation, persistence, creativity and problem solving.

We love seeing the children wonder, investigate, share ideas, work together and celebrate their learning!

On Friday we look forward to walking to Sunrise Christian School to join their Bookweek celebrations!

Please see our latest Educational Program which is created based on the children’s current lines of inquiry, interests and areas of need identified through educator observations.

SATURDAY RECAP

Have you ever looked at your child and wondered… “Is this normal?”

One of the biggest challenges of parenting is knowing the difference between behaviour that reflects healthy brain development and behaviour that may need extra support.

That’s why we’re starting a brand new series.

From age 3 right through to age 25, we’ll be exploring how the brain develops, what that can look like in everyday life, and the simple things that help children and young people thrive.

Today’s post begins at age 3—a time when curiosity explodes, emotions are big, independence blossoms and little brains are making millions of new connections every day.

Every child develops at their own pace, so these posts aren’t intended as milestones that every child must reach by a certain age. Instead, they’re designed to help you understand the development behind what you see.

💬 I’d love to hear from you.
If you have a 3-year-old (or remember when your child was 3!), what part of this post resonates most with you?

And if you’d like to follow the series all the way from 3 to 25 with daily posts, make sure you’re following The Contented Child so you don’t miss the next age. Come back tomorrow for 4 years old.

SATURDAY RECAP

🧠 I AM 4

At four years old, my brain is growing at an incredible pace.

Every day I am making new connections through play, movement, curiosity and the people who care for me. I ask endless questions, have a huge imagination and experience big emotions because the parts of my brain responsible for planning, self-control and managing feelings are still developing.

Sometimes what looks like “challenging behaviour” is simply my brain learning how to cope with a big world.

When we understand the development behind what we see, we become more patient, more connected and better able to support children as they grow.

This is the latest resource in The Brain Development Series (Ages 3 - 25 years) – helping adults look beyond behaviour and understand the child underneath.

A friendly reminder that there is no kindy or occasional care tomorrow.
