St James Catholic Primary School Nar Nar Goon

St James Catholic Primary School Nar Nar Goon St James Catholic Primary School is committed not only to students' academic growth, but their emotional and spiritual development.

This is why we hold our students at the centre of all decision-making. Our experienced and nurturing staff are passionate educators who work towards all children reaching their full potential by providing engaging and individualised learning experiences. They recognise parents as the first and foremost educators of their child, who - before starting school - has learnt to be curious, ask questions

and investigate their world. They have learnt from their parents the improtance of being responsible, respectful and safe. At St James, staff strive to continue this work and partner closely with parents to further build on this solid foundation, focusing onthe development and promotion of the whole child. St James Nar Nar Goon is nestled in between the Averley and Parklea estates in the new Pakenham East precinct and Maryknoll, and aims to provide the welcoming atmosphere of a small parish school combined with a wider set of specialist programs. Students are taught to follow Christ’s example and pursue their goals with dedication and grace. Look beyond the beautiful rural setting and you will see students who are enthusiastic about their learning and engaged in meaningful and innovative learning experiences. Our students have a strong sense of belonging and work within a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. Together parents and staff are providing all our students with strategies to take responsibility for their own learning, personal development and care for the environment. We acknowledge the traditional owners of the land on which we learn and play, the Bunurong people. We pay our respects to elders, past, present and emerging and thank them for caring for children and country for countless generations.

Over the last couple of weeks the Grade 2’s have been learning all about the scallop shell and its significance and why it’s an important part of the St James story.

On one of the scallop shells, the Grade 2’s recorded a gift they would like to carry with them, such as faith, peace and kindness.

Students discussed how St James took the scallop shell on his pilgrimage.

Our Grade 3/4 students had a fantastic day at Mill Valley Ranch this week, stepping outside their comfort zones and discovering what they can achieve with a little courage and a bit of encouragement.
One of the highlights was meeting Lucy, the sweet baby lamb who quickly became everyone’s favourite. Students also enjoyed horse riding through guided obstacle areas, building confidence and learning to trust the process. Out on the dam, teamwork was the key students worked together to paddle their canoe from one end to the other.
It was a day filled with smiles, laughs and memorable moments. 😀🔥🏇
