🌸 Celebrating Onam at NDHS🌸

This week, Aksh*tha Advi and her mum, Anitha, and dad, Manu, shared a beautiful part of their culture with our school community as they celebrated Onam, a significant festival from Kerala, India.

Together with Mrs Buntain and our students, they helped create this stunning Pookkalam, a traditional floral carpet made with colourful flowers as part of the Onam celebrations.

A huge thank you to Aksh*tha and her family for sharing this special tradition with us and giving our students the opportunity to learn more about the culture and celebrations of Kerala. 🌼💛

❤️ Red Cross Pillowcase Program

Our students had a fantastic time taking part in the Australian Red Cross Pillowcase Program

With the help of Red Cross volunteers Dianne and Marie, students learnt about different types of emergencies, how to 'stay calm and make safe decisions', and the difference between the things we want and need in an emergency.

They explored what should be packed in an emergency kit, including water, food, medication, a torch, first aid supplies, important documents and a change of clothes. Students then put their learning into action by decorating their own Red Cross pillowcases with the essential items they would take if they needed to evacuate.

A huge thank you to Dianne and Marie for visiting us and providing such a fun, practical and valuable learning experience for our students! ❤️

What a brilliant morning for our Book Week Parade!

Our school was filled with favourite characters, colourful costumes and plenty of fun.

Thank you to our families for the creativity and effort that went into costumes.

There's something pretty special about seeing a whole school come together over a love of books and stories.

🏥🧁 A Special Visit to Nannup Hospital 🧁🏥

Our wonderful high school students were back at Nannup Hospital today as part of their regular volunteering program — but this visit came with a little something extra!

With the caring and loving support of Mrs Szelma, the students made some delicious cupcakes to share with our friends at the hospital. 🧁❤️

It is always a beautiful thing to see everyone light up when Nannup DHS comes to visit, and today was extra special because it involved cake!

We love seeing these connections between our students and our community continue to grow.

Our amazing storyteller, EA Liz Moore, shared Kindness Rocks by Casey Rainbow before students created their own kindness rocks.

Last week, NDHS welcomed Poetry in Action for a performance of The Power of Poetry.

Through a fast-paced and humorous performance, students explored how poetry uses sound, figurative language and structure to communicate ideas and emotions.

It was a wonderful opportunity for students to experience poetry beyond the page and see language brought to life through performance.
