📚✨ Book Week 2026 Symphony of Stories ✨📚
What a fantastic Book Week we’ve had at Nangwarry Primary School! Our students have enjoyed celebrating books, creativity, storytelling and the wonderful world of imagination.
On Tuesday, we held our annual Book Week Parade, and it was fantastic to see so many of our students getting involved and proudly sharing their favourite characters and stories. A huge congratulations to our three winners!
We were also very lucky to have Amanda and Ruby from Story Dogs join us at our parade. They shared a wonderful story with our students and helped make the morning even more special. A huge thank you to Amanda and Ruby for being part of our Book Week celebrations!
On Wednesday, we joined more than 300 schools from across Australia for an entertaining and inspiring online Book Week Author Session with the wonderful Andy Lee.
Andy read his much-loved book Do Not Open This Book and gave students a sneak peek into the scary things happening in his upcoming book, Do Not Open This Book, It’s Scary! Students met Whizz, heard about Andy’s early drawings of the character and were encouraged to embrace curiosity, think creatively and use their imaginations.
Andy also shared a beautiful message about giving, reminding students that gifts don’t need to be expensive it’s the thought and creativity behind them that matters. He finished the session with some very entertaining vocal exercises from his television show Do Not Watch This Show, which the students thoroughly enjoyed!
On Thursday, our students were incredibly lucky to learn from Australian author and illustrator Jason Pamment, an up-and-coming South Australian creative.
Students were introduced to Ember, the main character from Jason’s graphic novels, and explored how an illustrator brings a character to life. They learned about the creative process, from simple stick figures and pencil sketches through to digital techniques used to clean up drawings, add colour and build detail.
The students loved getting hands-on and trying some of Jason’s drawing techniques and even our educators got involved! There were plenty of creative ideas, enthusiastic artists and some very impressive artwork.
What a wonderful Book Week! Our students have been inspired to keep reading, keep creating, keep asking questions and, most importantly, keep using their imaginations. 💫
