In Queensland - almost always, yes.
Ceiling spaces often meet confined space risk criteria due to:
⚠ Limited entry and exit
⚠ Electrical hazards
⚠ Poor ventilation
⚠ Dust and airborne contaminants
⚠ Heat stress
⚠ Restricted movement
It’s not about whether it “feels” confined, it’s about the risk assessment.
In the past when injury and death occurred, investigators and the court looked closely at:
• Whether a proper risk assessment was completed
• Whether the space met confined space criteria
• Whether workers were appropriately trained

Tips for cutting Poly pipe with a chainsaw
1. To avoid plastic chips going into your engine it is a good idea to glue fly screen to the starter cover
2. Use a full chisel chain (square profile)
3. Use normal bar oil as per manufactures requirements
