What a wonderful Book Week we have had at Nambour Special School! 💙💚

Our “Symphony of Stories” theme brought books, music, imagination and community together in the most joyful way. From colourful characters to creative costumes, our students and staff truly brought their favourite stories to life! 🎭✨

A huge thank you to our wonderful primary families for joining us and being part of the celebrations. Seeing so many parents and carers attend made the day even more special for our students. ❤️

And those costumes… WOW! 👏 We loved seeing the creativity, effort and enthusiasm that went into making our Book Week celebration such a success.

Most importantly, we celebrated the joy of stories, the individuality of every child, and the magic that happens when we come together as one school community.

🏏 Cricket Skills in Action! 🏏

Our senior primary students had a fantastic session with Cricket Australia coaches who joined us to help our students explore the fun of cricket! 🌟

The coaches supported students to develop simple cricket skills through hands-on activities, including throwing, catching, batting and ball skills. Students had opportunities to practise at their own level, build confidence and, most importantly, enjoy being active and having a go! 🙌

It was wonderful to see our students engaging, participating and celebrating their successes on the field. 💙💚

A huge thank you to the Cricket Australia coaches for creating such an inclusive and enjoyable sporting experience for our students! 🏏👏

📚✨ Book Week magic is coming to Nambour Special School! ✨📚

Our Primary students are in for a very special treat this Book Week, with author Nikki Foreman visiting from 25–27 August to share readings of her wonderful book The Umbrella with each class. ☂️📖

We can’t wait to see the smiles, imagination and love of reading this special experience inspires! 💛📚

Maths is everywhere! 🔷💰🙌

Maths learning at Nambour Special School is hands-on, meaningful and full of opportunities to explore!

Our students have been learning about shapes and money through sensory exploration, sorting, counting and collaborative group activities. We’ve been taking our learning beyond the classroom too — searching for shapes in playground spaces, exploring money through real-world experiences and using our whole bodies to learn. 🧍‍♀️👐👣

Along the way, students are developing mathematical concepts while also building communication, problem-solving, turn-taking and social skills. AAC is an important part of this learning, giving students meaningful ways to communicate their choices, ideas, answers and discoveries. 💬

From finding a circle on the playground to counting coins, matching shapes or working together to solve a problem — every experience is an opportunity to make maths meaningful! ❤️💚💙

We learn best when we can see it, touch it, move it, talk about it and use it in the real world.

🌟Our wonderful P&C are running a Father's Day Stall on Tuesday 1st and Wednesday 2nd September🌟
Flyers have been sent home with pictures of items available and pricing. You are welcome to complete an order form or send in money for students to make their own selection at the stall.

🌟 Learning, Growing & Achieving! 🌟

Our Secondary students are making the most of every learning opportunity! From engaging play-based experiences to explicit instruction, students are building new skills, working towards their individual goals and growing in confidence. 💙

In Maths, students have been developing their understanding of money and shape, while in English, they have been building communication and literacy skills by retelling news reports. 📰💰🔷

We are so proud of the progress our students have made and can’t wait to see them continue to thrive, grow and achieve! 👏🌟

Our students are embracing new experiences as part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s Bridge Award, developing new cricket skills with the fantastic support of Cricket Queensland and coaches Tarah and Alex.

The Bridge Award encourages students to try something new, get active, challenge themselves, have fun and make new friends, while working towards recognition for their achievements. 👏

We’re so proud to see our students building confidence, learning new skills and giving things a go! 🏏💙🌟

A reminder that next week is our book week parade for our primary students. Parents and carers are welcome to dress up too!
