Great day spent at the aXcelerate Day, connecting with other RTOs and hearing directly from the team behind the platform we use every day at Accell.

Plenty of focus on AI and the new features coming down the line, exciting to see where the platform is heading and the practical ways it will continue to support our work, from the student experience through to compliance and reporting.

Thanks to the aXcelerate team for a well run event, looking forward to seeing some of these new features in action.

Today is R U OK Day.

A simple question, asked genuinely, can be the start of a conversation that changes someone's day, or their life.

In the rail industry, and in workplaces everywhere, we're often so focused on getting the job done that we forget to check in on the people doing it. Long shifts, high pressure environments, and demanding schedules can take a toll that isn't always visible.

So today, take a moment. Ask a colleague how they're really going. Listen without rushing to fix. Sometimes the most powerful thing we can offer is our full attention.

If you're struggling, please reach out, to a colleague, a friend, or a professional. You don't have to carry it alone.

Accell recently attended the Australasian Railway Association (ARA) People and Culture Conference at the RACV Club, Melbourne.

Two great days of conversation covering some of the biggest issues facing our industry's workforce, including psychosocial safety, diversity and inclusion, the Gender Equity Charter, and the value of data in understanding rail skills.

As a specialist rail training provider, staying close to these conversations helps us keep supporting the industry with training and compliance solutions that reflect where the sector is headed.

A huge thank you to the whole ATA team for putting together such a strong program, and to everyone we caught up with along the way. A special shout out to some standout presenters including Ilacqua, Walsh, and Grigg.

A great afternoon at Rail Academy Newport

Ahead of the Australasian Railway Association (ARA) Rail People and Culture Conference this week, I joined a site tour of Rail Academy Newport (RAN), Victoria's dedicated facility for hands-on rail and infrastructure training.

Highlights included the practical training zones supporting safe working and track protection, a track training area used for welding, points and crossovers, the substation area supporting traction power and electrical infrastructure training, the Signalling Equipment and the simulated train and platform environment featuring a section of a High Capacity Metro Train.

What stood out just as much as the facility itself was the team running it. Their genuine care and professionalism came through in every part of the tour, and it's clear the people behind Rail Academy Newport are just as invested in workforce capability as the facility they operate.

It's always valuable to see how facilities invest in practical, hands-on training. It reinforces just how important realistic, purpose-built environments, and the right people, are to building genuine workforce capability across the industry.

Looking forward to continuing the conversation at the ARA Rail People and Culture Conference over the next two days.

It's been a big week for the Accell team.

From delivering training across our programs, to farewelling one of our legends! Congratulations to Andy Corson-Crook on his retirement from Accell after more than 10 years with the business. Your loyalty, professionalism and expertise have shaped so much of what we do, and you'll be missed by the whole team. Enjoy this next chapter, Andy!

It was great to catch up with the ARTC team and other training providers at this week's collab meeting. Staying connected across the rail industry is what keeps us all moving in the right direction.
