What a fantastic week at MacKillop ELC!
The children have enjoyed visiting St. Joseph's School Oval, where they further developed their gross motor, teamwork, and confidence through football activities alongside St. Joseph's Primary School Students from Year 5 and 6 students supporting them with their skills by coaching and mentoring. It has been wonderful to see the school and kindergarten children come together during recess and lunch, building positive relationships and connections.

We also welcomed Georgia from Nagambie Primary School, who led a step by step drawing lesson, teaching the children how to draw a clown while building their listening skills, creativity, and fine motor development. The children then participated in an art gallery walk, sharing their thoughts about their favorite artworks and why they liked particular drawings, encouraging communication and critical thinking. To conclude the session with Georgia, the children enjoyed the story "Monkey Do," followed by five minutes of meditation supporting mindfulness and self regulation.

What a wonderful and meaningful week of learning at Mackillop Early Learning Centre. The children enjoyed an excursion to Champions IGA, where they explored the importance of community connections and learned about the different roles people play within our local community.
We also had a visit from St. Joseph's Primary School - "Chooseday program." Meaningful teachings led by Maree in recognition of Sorry Day. The children engaged in thoughtful discussions about the meaning of Sorry Day and explored Indigenous culture through drawing activities inspired by Indigenous symbols and storytelling.

These valuable experiences support the children's understanding of community, culture, inclusion, and respect for diversity, while also strengthening their social skills, empathy, confidence and sense of identity and belonging.

What an exciting and enriching week we have had at MacKillop Early Learning Centre. The children engaged in a variety of hands on learning experiences designed to strengthen their fine motor skills, hand-eye co-ordination, creativity, exploration, and problem solving abilities. We were also fortunate to welcome Michelle from GV Water, who supported children's understanding of the importance and benefits of choosing water as a healthy option. In addition, we welcomed Leah from Nagambie Primary School, engaging the children in an enjoyable story time which then led to a creative art experience, and afterwards dramatic play. It has been a wonderful week filled with meanginful learning, curiosity and connection.

What a wonderful Mother's Day afternoon tea we shared this week at MacKillop ELC! It was lovely to see so many families, mothers, grandmothers and special friends able to join us for such a special occasion. The children were incredibly excited and proud to welcome their loved ones into their learning space and share the beautiful gifts they have been working on over the past two weeks. A big congratulations to our raffle winners! Again, the children participated in selling tickets leading up to the event and they were also thrilled to help draw the winning tickets. We are so proud of the children for singing so confidently and proudly, a song chosen by the children themselves, making the moment even more special.

What a fun and busy week we have had at MacKillop Early Learning Centre!

We have been buzzing with excitement as the children enjoyed Easter crafts, stories, sensory activities and two exciting Easter egg hunts! The joy on their faces as they searched high and low for hidden chocolate eggs was priceless.

We also loved welcoming families into the centre for our Easter celebration. The children proudly performed a much-loved dance which showed their confidence and enthusiasm.

A highlight of the week was joining our local kindergartens and schools for a community Easter egg hunt - thank you to St Joseph's Primary School for hosting us. It was wonderful to see children from across our community coming together, sharing laughs, exploring the yard, and celebrating in such a positive and connected way.

As we head into the school holidays, we want to wish all our families a safe, restful, and happy holidays. We hope you enjoy your time with loved ones, create special memories, and return refreshed for another great term of learning and play.
