🌿 Watching Nature Work it's Magic

Lately at Nabiac Natress, our little adventurers have been keeping a close eye on our gardens and fruit trees. From noticing the very first green shoots pushing through the soil to carefully watering our plants, the children are learning what it truly means to be caretakers of the land.

Who needs a ruler when the bush provides everything we need?

Using sticks, logs and mud, the children worked together to measure and compare their heights. What began as a simple idea became an opportunity for collaboration, problem solving, mathematical thinking and plenty of muddy hands.

Learning doesn’t always happen at a table. Sometimes it happens under the trees, with the earth beneath our feet and curiosity leading the way.

Today we celebrate you — the heart, soul, and steady hands that guide our children every single day. This year’s theme, “Shaping Brighter Futures,” couldn’t be more fitting. Because that’s exactly what you do, in every moment, with every child, in every room.You shape futures when you comfort a child who needs reassurance.

You shape futures when you spark curiosity through nature, play, and wonder.
You shape futures when you work together with kindness, respect, and genuine care.
You shape futures simply by showing up with your whole heart. I am endlessly proud of the educators who make our centre the warm, nurturing, exceeding service it is.

Your dedication, creativity, patience, and passion shine through in everything you do. Our children thrive because of you. Our families trust because of you. Our community is stronger because of you. Thank you for the magic you bring to every day.

Over recent weeks, children at Nabiac Early Learning have been deeply engaged in exploring the bushland surrounding our centre. Rainfall has created new learning opportunities, from puddle play and bridge building to navigating trucks through water pathways. Natural climbing spaces such as trees and logs continue to support risk-taking, balance and coordination.
Our outdoor environment is rich with bugs, mushrooms and worms, allowing children to develop knowledge about safe interactions and environmental care. These experiences strengthen their connection to nature and build respect for the living world around them.

Our special interest Sustainability project in the Koala room has been making pizzas using cherry tomatoes and fresh herbs from our garden. The Koala room children were excited to harvest tomatoes and cucumbers and pick fresh basil from our gardens. They could then select pizza toppings or snack on them! which made this ‘garden to table’ learning activity a hands on experience highlighting the connection between growing food and healthy eating. Children who usually would not try tomatoes were willing to try them on a pizza that they had made and the cucumbers didn’t even make it to the salad bowl!

🌏 Harmony Day at Nabiac Early Learning 🌏

This week we celebrated Harmony Day by coming together as a community to recognise and celebrate the diversity that makes us who we are. Children and their families were invited to paint their hands and add their handprints to a large banner, creating a beautiful symbol of unity, belonging and connection.

It was lovely to see families sharing this experience with their children and contributing to something meaningful together. Each handprint represents our shared values of inclusiveness, respect and kindness.
Thank you to all the families who joined us and helped make this celebration so special 💛

🌿 Our children spend their days exploring the natural world around them through our Nabiac Natress program. It is a nature‑based experience that invites children to venture beyond the fence, connect with the bushland, and be fully immersed in the beauty of the outdoors.

This program supports children to build resilience, curiosity, confidence, and a deep connection to Worimi Country.
