What a wonderful day at SJM as we celebrated Father's Day! 💙

Our celebrations began with a beautiful liturgy, where we gave thanks to God for our fathers and all the special father figures in our lives. A heartfelt thank you to our Kindergarten students and teachers, who led the liturgy so beautifully and made it such a meaningful occasion.

Following the liturgy, our school community gathered in the courtyard to enjoy a shared lunch filled with great food, conversation, and connection.

The fun then continued down at Skellatar Oval, where students enjoyed a soccer shootout against our Principal, Mr Moon, REC Mrs Gehrig, and one of our parents, Nathan. There were plenty of smiles, laughter and friendly competition throughout the afternoon!

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the day so special. We wish all of our fathers, grandfathers, carers, and father figures in the SJM community a very Happy Father's Day on Sunday. ⚽️💙🙏

🥋 SJM Taekwondo Day! 🥋

Taekwondo has been an important part of life at SJM for the past two years, and this year the program has been proudly funded by Bengalla Mining Company.

Today, Senseis Adrian and Chris, alongside Master Paul, graded our students. Our younger participants earned their White Belts, while our older students achieved their Yellow Belts. Congratulations to all our students on this wonderful achievement! 👏

The excitement didn't stop there, with every student from Years 1–6 enjoying a free Taekwondo lesson.

Thank you to Mrs Whitehead for organising the program and to Bengalla Mining Company for their generous support. We hope to continue this fantastic opportunity for our students again next year! 🥋✨

🎶 The SJM Dance Performance is Back for 2026! 🎶

Join us on Wednesday, 23 September 2026 at MacKillop Oval for an evening of music, movement and celebration!

🕔 Performance starts at 5:00pm

🪑 All welcome – please bring your own chair and enjoy the show.

👧🧒 All students participating should be at school by 4:45pm.

If, for any reason, your child is unable to attend on the night, please contact your child's teacher as soon as possible.

We look forward to seeing our students shine and sharing this special event with our school community!

📽️ Take a look at our Term 3 Cold Write stimulus!

Usually, our cold write stimuli are presented on paper, but this time we've stepped it up a notch with a fully multimodal video clip experience.

Over the coming days, and in our newsletter, we'll be sharing some of the fantastic writing our students have produced in response to this stimulus. We can't wait for you to see their creativity, imagination, and writing skills in action.

Next Wednesday, we are blessed to welcome a First Class Relic of St Carlo Acutis to our parish as part of its pilgrimage across Australia. St Carlo is a wonderful role model for young people, inspiring us to grow in our love of the Eucharist and faith. Parents, families, and members of the wider community are warmly invited to attend this event!
