What an amazing week we had! It was filled with adventure, magic, and meaningful learning experiences. The children continued to explore a variety of thoughtfully planned activities set up across both the indoor and outdoor environments.

As part of this program, the children showed great interest in playing with the ducks, which supported their development in colour recognition, sorting, and number identification. A fairy themed drawing experience sparked their creativity and imagination, while the monster trucks provided a fun and engaging sensory activity.

Incorporating the children’s input into our fortnightly program ensures that the experiences reflect their interests. This approach helps maintain high levels of engagement and supports the development of a wide range of skills.

On Thursday, the children enjoyed a truly magical incursion - JD’s Magic World. They were captivated from start to finish, filled with amazement and laughter throughout the entire performance.

On Thursday the children went on a little adventure to the park to see the beautiful wings and the large kangaroo art.

This week has been very busy and exciting at preschool!

On Tuesday, the children learned about sea creatures through an engaging and interactive incursion. A big thank you to Donna from Just Dream Productions for such a wonderful experience. It was also St Patrick’s Day, and the children had lots of fun dressing in green. In the afternoon, Rebecca from the library visited with a special guest to read some green-themed stories - thank you, Rebecca and Anna.

On Wednesday, we all wore pink in support of Community Preschools. Even Sam joined in the fun by wearing a pink tutu during our SPARK Littlies session.

Thank you to all the children, parents, grandparents, Mr Bruce, and visitors who contributed their fingerprints to our Harmony Tree for Harmony Week.

This week the children also enjoyed time in the garden, tending to the plants, picking tomatoes, and watering. With the roadworks happening near the oval, they’ve been very curious and have been closely watching the progress over the fence. The sandpit has been especially popular, with the children using the large excavators and digging for “dinosaur bones” and hidden treasures.

This week, the children participated in a range of experiences throughout their preschool day. For this program, the children requested excavators, scooter boards and hoops. While engaging with these activities, they are further developing their core body strength. Strong core muscles help children stabilise their bodies while sitting, which supports their ability to concentrate for longer periods and improves their attention span.

The Snail’s Pace Race game is fun and interactive, with the children waiting in anticipation of which snail will win the race. While playing this game the children are developing basic colour matching, it also encourages collaboration, patience and turn taking. Through this game, children are learning how to participate in games that involve simple rules.

This week at preschool, the children continued to engage with the sensory tray using the small construction vehicles and bricks. The sandpit was also very popular, with the children working collaboratively as they attempted to dig out the large rock. The children have continued to explore their creativity through both planned and self selected creative experiences.

During our programming and planning meeting, the children shared their ideas for the environment. They decided that they would like to continue using the sensory tray and to add the large excavators into the sandpit area. Indoors, the children suggested incorporating jungle animals into the play environment and moving the birds to the playdough area.

Including the children’s input in the program is vital, as it supports their sense of belonging, agency and engagement in the learning environment.

This week at preschool, the children have been busy exploring and learning through hands on experiences.

Outdoors, they enjoyed using the large sand wheels, discovering the difference between wet and dry sand. They observed how wet sand sticks together and dry sand flows more freely, building early scientific thinking skills. Messy play was a highlight, with the children using small construction vehicles and building bricks to dig, scoop, and create imaginative scenes.

The step walkers were new to some of the children. After spending time watching and observing their peers, their confidence gradually grew, and they began taking turns themselves. It was wonderful to see their perseverance and developing coordination.

On Thursday, we received a very generous donation of new soft building blocks. The children showed great creativity as they transformed them into castles, a cosy reading area and even firewood that they gathered from around the playground. Their imaginative play and teamwork were lovely to observe.

Indoors, the children continued working on a variety of puzzles, strengthening their problem solving skills. We also focused on name writing and correct letter formation, encouraging pride in their growing literacy skills. Some children enjoyed following step by step drawing instructions, carefully recreating pictures with increasing attention to detail.

The creative areas remain a favourite choice, and in the playdough area the children explored a variety of shape cutters, increasing their fine motor skills through rolling, pressing and moulding.

It has been a week full of creativity, exploration, confidence building, and joyful learning.

Wendy truly understands the value of life and the importance of being prepared. Her thoughtful contribution ensures that our children and educators have access to vital, potentially lifesaving equipment when it matters most.

Because of Wendy’s kindness and commitment to safety, our service is even better equipped to provide a secure and caring environment for everyone in our community.

The children have been highly engaged this week, exploring a wide variety of activities both indoors and outdoors.

With the warmer weather, much of the outdoor play has centred around the sandpit and mud kitchen area, particularly with the addition of water in the mud kitchen. The children have also shown interest in imaginative play using the boat and dinosaur Duplo, creating their own stories and scenarios.

Indoors, many children have been involved in dramatic and social play within the block, construction and fairy areas, working collaboratively to build and extend their ideas. Others have focused on expressing their creativity in the drawing, collage and painting areas, demonstrating growing confidence in their artistic skills.

The children have also continued exploring bees and their life cycle, showing curiosity in the world around them. The puzzle area has been another popular space, with children demonstrating concentration, problem solving skills and perseverance.

Thank you, Mrs Coffey, for visiting us and for giving the children the opportunity to be involved in creating the wings. We are all looking forward to seeing the finished product and visiting the park to see them on display. It is going to be such a special art piece.
