Stage 2 Botanic Gardens Excursion

Today staff and students travelled to Canberra to visit the Botanic Gardens.

On arrival we had morning tea and
then gathered into small groups for our ‘Around Australia in an hour’ guided tour.

The students explored the deep connections between people, plants and animals through guided inquiry and hands-on learning experiences.

Some of the areas we explored were:

The Red Centre Garden which features iconic plants from Central Australia including the mulga, desert oak, ghost gum, spinifex and saltbush. A Central Meeting Place is a highlight of the Red Centre Garden. It features a paved artwork with a stunning interpretation of Country by Indigenous artist Teresa P**a McKeeman.

The Rainforest Gully
The students took a journey through the rainforests of Australia’s eastern coastline from Tasmania to Queensland. Some of the flora we saw were mosses, vines and palms.

The Temperate Region
In this area the students discovered many native plants, rocks and grasses. Students looked for water dragons and birds. They also saw wallabies in their natural habitat.

Today our year 5 and 6 students competed in the Todd Woodbridge Cup tennis competition. It was a great turn out from MPS with our students making 3 teams! Well done to all involved, it was a nice day for a hit! Special thanks to our parent helper that kept the teams organised all day and all the Murrumbateman parents for transporting and cheering!

Stage 2 students recently participated in the Todd Woodbridge Cup. Students showed sportsmanship and teamwork as they competed against other schools. Their skills improved each round with some impressive rallies happening by the end of the day. A special shout out to our parent helpers who helped keep our day running smoothly!

🔺 Shaping Up for Success! 🔶

This week, Stage 2 students have been on a roll in Maths - building their knowledge of 3D shapes and their physical features, faces, edges and vertices. Using plasticine and craft sticks the students created some amazing 3D models of Spheres, cubes, and pyramids

Oh my! Solid effort Stage 2!

📚 Book Week Parade 2026 📚

What an amazing Book Week celebration we had!

Our school came alive with characters from stories old and new 📖🪄

The search was on to find 100 Wally’s hidden around the school during break times, with students working together to see how many they could spot 👀

We welcomed both local preschools, who joined us for our afternoon book parade, and we awarded prizes (books of course 😉) to the most creative, adventurous and imaginative characters we could find!

A big thank you to our students, families and the community for helping make Book Week a fun celebration of reading and imagination!
