At Kin Kin, we love providing cooking experiences for all of our age groups, giving every child the opportunity to get involved in the kitchen! 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

This week, our little chefs had lots of fun making some yummy mixed berry cupcakes! The children helped mix, pour and add the ingredients, watching as everything came together. 🧁

Cooking experiences are a great way for children to practise taking turns, following simple instructions, building independence, basic maths and learning new skills.

The best part was getting to enjoy our cupcakes afterwards! 😋

🧪✨ Science Week in the Nursery Room! ✨🧪

Our little scientists have been having lots of fun exploring some hands-on experiences for Science Week! 🤍

🌋 Sandpit Volcanoes – watching our volcanoes bubble and erupt!
🌈 Coloured Milk & Oil – exploring colours and watching how the milk and oil move and separate.
💦 Sink or Float? – experimenting with different objects to see what sinks and what floats!

These fun experiences encouraged the children to explore, investigate and discover through sensory play while developing their curiosity and understanding of cause and effect. 🥰🔬

🌿Learning Through Play!

🌿 Messy Mixing – Using bird seed, rice and oats, the children made their own pretend soups and cakes in the sandpit.

🫖 Tea Party – The children enjoyed making cups of tea for each other using fruit infusion tea bags, pretend sugar and milk. ☕

🦋 Nature Play – Inspired by *When We Go Walkabout*, the children explored a beautiful nature-based sensory experience filled with natural materials, insects and loose parts.

♻️ Recycling Painting – Miss Kristen explored recycling with the children through a fun painting experience. 🎨

A lovely day of exploring, creating and learning through play. 🌿🤍

Our children created their very own nature tea party, using their imaginations to mix, pour, serve and create some very special “cups of tea”! 🌼🍃

This beautiful experience brought together nature, creativity and imaginative play, while encouraging the children to share, take turns, communicate with their friends and explore the natural world around them.

There were plenty of little conversations, lots of creativity and, of course, some very fancy cups of nature tea! 🫖🌿✨

Caring for Our Environment Starts Here! 🌏

Our Kindy children became environmental heroes as they learnt how to sort everyday items into our colour-coded bins, just like the ones we use at home! They sorted general rubbish, recycling, and green waste, while learning why each bin is important.

This hands-on experience helped the children understand how simple everyday actions can help look after our environment. It's never too early to teach children about sustainability, and we're so proud of our Kindy children for giving it a go! 🌿♻️

🌈✨ Learning through play starts from the very beginning! ✨🎨

Our nursery children have been diving into a colourful sensory experience, exploring vibrant colours through hands-on play with droppers, coloured water and coconut. 💛❤️💙

As they created patterns and watched the colours mix, they were developing fine motor skills, building early language, and discovering the joy of learning through exploration and creativity.

At Kin Kin, every playful moment is an opportunity for children to learn, grow and thrive in a nurturing environment. 🌿🤍

✨ Meet Our Early Childhood Teacher – Miss Tayla! ✨

We're so excited to officially introduce our incredible Early Childhood Teacher, Miss Tayla! 🤍

Since joining the Kin Kin family, Tayla has brought an amazing level of enthusiasm, passion and dedication to our centre. Her warm and nurturing approach, combined with her knowledge of early childhood education, has already had a wonderful impact on our children and team.

Miss Tayla leads our Flying Start program, planning intentional, play-based learning experiences that foster curiosity, confidence, creativity and school readiness. She believes every child is capable, competent and unique, and is passionate about creating an environment where children feel safe, supported and inspired to learn every day.

At Kin Kin, we believe great educators make all the difference and Tayla is a perfect example of that. Her commitment to providing meaningful learning experiences helps ensure every child has the best possible start to their educational journey. 🌿

We're incredibly grateful to have Tayla as part of our team, and we can't wait for our families and community to continue seeing the wonderful things she brings to our centre. 💚

🪞 All About Me 🪞

Our Pre-Kindy children have been focusing on the topic "All About Me"

Using mirrors, the children carefully observed their own features before creating self-portraits. This activity encouraged them to focus, observe details, and represent what they could see through drawing. As they worked, they strengthened their pencil grip, fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, concentration, and confidence. All important skills that support a smooth transition to school.

Learning about themselves also helps children develop a strong sense of identity and belonging, supporting their confidence as they continue to grow as capable and independent learners.
