This week our preschoolers enjoyed an excursion to the Mullumbimby Community Garden where we connected with Aunty Delta and explored bush tucker. The children loved tasting, smelling and learning about traditional plants. 🌿

When we discovered the Seed Library was empty. We realised we have plenty of seeds at preschool, so the children decided to make seed packs to share. We are excited to donate our seed packs to help restock the Seed Library. 🌱

We are so proud of the children for thinking about how they can give back to their community. 💚

Our team celebrated our Christmas party on Friday at Create Art Studio in Mullumbimby, and it couldn’t have been more fun. We got stuck into a paint-and-sip session and created a beautiful beach-themed artwork, complete with a surfboard wearing a Santa hat! 🏄‍♂️🎄

There was so much laughter, creativity, and good vibes all around. ❤️
Feeling grateful for such an amazing team and a wonderful way to celebrate the festive season!

To wrap up our five-week fire safety program, we had an exciting visit from NSW Fire & Rescue! The firefighters showed us their protective gear, answered our questions, and reinforced everything we’ve been learning. We even explored the fire truck and had a turn using the fire hose. Everyone loved taking home a special fire hat, wooden spoon, and activity book to continue the learning. What a fantastic hands-on experience for our students!

We’ve been working on a special memorial garden in loving memory of Colin Davison. We’ve created a peaceful little space to share with our community, complete with a street library and a small seat in the garden to sit, relax, and enjoy a book. Colin loved reading, whales, and the ocean, so we’ve added touches of the sea throughout the space to honour the things that brought him so much joy. We hope this garden becomes a place of comfort, connection, and quiet moments, a beautiful way to remember Colin.

🐣✨ Henny Penny Hatching Has Arrived! ✨🐣

This week, we welcomed the much-anticipated Henny Penny Hatching Program into our learning environment! The children have been filled with excitement and curiosity as they observed the incubator and eagerly awaited the arrival of the chicks.

To extend on this wonderful experience, we introduced a guided drawing class, where the children followed step-by-step instructions to create their very own chickens. This hands-on activity encouraged creativity, fine motor development, and supported their ability to follow sequences, all while connecting to the real-life hatching process happening in our room!

Each child proudly wrote their name on their artwork and added colour using crayons, expressing their unique artistic style. 🎨🖍️

We look forward to many more engaging, hands-on learning moments as we continue to explore the life cycle of chickens in the coming days

Last week, the children engaged in a range of hands-on science activities that encouraged curiosity, problem-solving, and early scientific thinking. They explored weather systems through a cloud experiment using shaving cream and food colouring, and created marble-effect prints as a creative extension. A germ experiment using pepper and soap visually demonstrated the importance of handwashing. Children also investigated liquid density by adding coloured water to oil with droppers, observing how the substances interacted. These activities supported learning across cognitive, sensory, and language development in a fun, engaging environment.

This week, we celebrated Dental Week with a special visit from Maven Dental Mullumbimby. The team spoke with the children about the importance of oral hygiene, including how often and how long to brush their teeth.

The children participated in an engaging hands-on activity, where they practiced removing “sugar bugs” from teeth using toothbrushes. Educators further extended on this learning with a guided teeth-brushing activity and open discussions about healthy dental care habits.

🏡Group Two - Thursday & Friday- 8.30am to 4.00pm - play based program catering for 3-4 year old. Starts back Thursday 24th July.

This week, we embraced NAIDOC Week with meaningful learning experiences that celebrated Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. Through stories, discussions, and creative activities, the children explored important cultural symbols and traditions. They worked together on a beautiful group painting, using cotton tips to trace their hands and create prints inspired by the Indigenous flag. They also designed their own boomerangs, practicing fine motor skills and learning through art. A wonderful week of connection, creativity, and cultural understanding! 🖤💛❤️
