Chang's Taekwondo and Self Defence

ll of Chang’s Taekwondo current instructors have received direct teaching from Mr Chang. Chang’s Taekwondo was passed to Mr Chang’s first student the late Mr Sam Cossari. Mr Cossari (5th Dan), competed in the 1973 Taekwondo World Championships. On Mr Cossari’s retirement, Chang’s Taekwondo was entrusted to Mr Eddie Tunacao. Mr Tunacao is the current owner and Head Instructor of Chang’s. Current Program:
Chang’s Taekwondo and Self Defence currently follows the syllabus as prescribed by World Taekwondo Headquarters in Kukkiwon, Seoul, Korea. Included in the program is Poomsae (formwork), technical kicks and hand techniques, and sparring. Emphasis is placed on students’ achieving technical demonstration to the best of their ability by developing confidence through appropriately scaffolding skill development. At Chang’s, we integrate the WT syllabus with a more practical self-defence program. This program uses a number of safe techniques that can be effectively applied against an aggressor in a number of common attack scenarios. Students develop self-confidence and autonomy about their own bodies and their right to stay safe. Throughout all programs, we try to develop a sense of fun and community spirit. We encourage students to support one another and to respect themselves and others around them. The Chang’s Taekwondo Dojang (School) is promoted as an inclusive safe space for all people who want to learn martial arts skills. ABOUT OUR INSTRUCTORS
All of our instructors have rank certification from World Taekwondo headquarters in Kukkiwon, Seoul, Korea. Our instructors are also members of Australian Taekwondo, which. Is the overseeing body of Taekwondo in Australia. Our instructors also hold relevant Working With Children Check or equivalent Police Check documentation. Our instructors regularly attend seminars and accreditation lectures to ensure that we maintain standards prescribed by World Taekwondo. EDDIE TUNACAO - Head Instructor
