πŸ”πŸ§ͺ Celebrating Science Week πŸ”¬πŸ§¬

What a fun-filled week of exploring, experimenting and discovering!
Our little scientists enjoyed hands-on experiences including magic milk, dancing popcorn, volcano eruptions, shadow play, DIY bubbles, rain clouds and more!
Through these exciting experiments, children were encouraged to ask questions, make predictions, observe changes and explore cause and effect. Most importantly, we discovered that science is everywhere and learning can be so much fun!
We are so proud of our curious little scientists! πŸ§«πŸ”Ž

🌱 Growing, Learning & Caring Together 🌱

Our children have been so proud and excited to see the results of their hard work in our garden! It all started with an excursion to our local hardware store, where the children helped choose seeds to grow.
Together, we planted beans, radishes, carrots, strawberries and some herbs. The children have been involved every step of the wayβ€”planting the seeds, watering them and caring for the garden.
Now that our plants are growing and we are beginning to harvest some vegetables, the children proudly say, "I planted that!"πŸ₯•πŸ«œ
This has given them a wonderful sense of achievement and connection to their environment.
We have also been learning about composting and sustainability. Children help add food scraps to our compost and use our nutrient-rich worm juice to feed the garden. Of course, one of their favourite jobs is checking on the worms! πŸͺ±They are learning to hold and observe them gently, understanding that even the smallest living creatures need care and respect.
Through these hands-on experiences, our children are learning where food comes from, how plants grow, how food scraps can be reused, and how we can all play a part in caring for our environment.🌎

🌲🌳National Tree Day🌲🌳

After National Tree Day, the children continued learning about the importance of trees through fun, hands-on activities. They discovered that trees provide oxygen, homes for animals, shade and food while exploring leaves, nature sensory play, tree art, clay creations and fruit printing. These experiences encouraged curiosity, creativity and a growing appreciation for caring for our environment.

The 2026 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day theme is Living Our Truth, honouring the power of truth-telling, the sharing of knowledge across generations and the importance of telling our stories.

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is a national celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, held each year on 4 August since 1988. The day is led by SNAICC – National Voice for our Children, the national Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peak body representing children, young people and families, and is an opportunity for all Australians to recognise and celebrate the strength, pride and potential of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children.

For 2026, Living Our Truth celebrates the voices, stories and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, families and communities. It recognises the importance of truth-telling as a foundation for identity, belonging and cultural strength, and honours the role of Elders and community in passing knowledge to the next generation. This year, we celebrate children as the next generation of leaders; confident, proud and ready to carry forward the strong voices, stories and knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities.

On Children’s Day, early learning services, schools, libraries, sporting clubs, organisations and communities across the country take the lead in their own celebrations in ways that reflect local knowledge, priorities, culture and activities. These celebrations take many forms, including storytelling, cultural learning, art exhibitions, sports days and community gatherings that create spaces where children are seen, heard and celebrated for who they are.
