Last Thursday, Year 12 Agriculture travelled to Dubbo to attend a tour of Fletchers International Abattoir. Students were able to view first hand the process of paddock to plate of the production of lamb. We also visited the Dubbo Saleyards to allow students to view this marketing method.
This excursion allows students to understand all processes involved in turning sheep into lamb, and will help in completing their Farm Product Study Assessment Task.
Thank you to Ruby and Mrs White for organising and attending this excursion.

Year 12 Legal Studies hosted Sgt Jason Kempa from NSW Police this week as part of their studies of both the Criminal and Family Law systems. During his visit, Sgt Kempa shared his extensive experience as a police prosecutor in dealing with domestic violence offences. This assisted students in evaluating how effective the law is in responding to domestic violence within NSW and Australia.
Thank you to Sgt Kempa for sharing his experience and donating his time to our HSC Legal Studies class.

On 26 May, Australia observed National Sorry Day—a deeply significant day dedicated to acknowledging the Stolen Generations. It recognizes the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families, cultures, and communities between the mid-1800s and the 1980s. The day also marks the anniversary of the historic tabling of the Bringing Them Home report in 1997.
This year, the St Matthews Secondary Campus community came together in solidarity, reflection, and education through two meaningful initiatives:
A Moment of Sacred Silence: Staff and students paused for a profound moment of silence to honor and remember those who suffered, as well as the families who continue to carry the lasting impacts of forced removal.
Listening to Living History: Our school community participated in a powerful learning activity, watching first-hand documentary films of Stolen Generations survivors. Hearing these raw, deeply personal stories allowed our students to understand the real human impact of our history.
"Listening to the lived experiences of survivors helps us carry the truth of our past into a future built on genuine respect and reconciliation."
Thank you to all the staff and students who participated so respectfully. Through listening and learning, St Matthews continues its commitment to walking together toward true reconciliation.
