💙 Child Protection Week 2026💙

As part of Child Protection Week, our School Readiness children have been exploring an incredibly important message: every child has rights, and every child deserves to feel safe, valued, heard and respected.

Supported by the beautiful book The Right to Be Me, Melinda and Zahli have been encouraging the children to learn about what it means to have rights and how these rights are reflected in their everyday lives.

Through meaningful conversations, group discussions, drawing and reflection, the children shared what is important to them:

💬 “I have a right to play.”
💬 “I have a right to food.”
💬 “I have a right to be safe.”
💬 “I have a right to kindness.”
💬 “I have a right to learn.”
💬 “I have a right to have a say.”

These conversations are about much more than school readiness. They are about empowering children to understand that their voice matters, helping them recognise when something does not feel right, and building their confidence to speak to trusted adults.

At Milestones Mudgee child safety is not simply something we talk about during Child Protection Weekit is embedded in our everyday practice. We want every child to grow up knowing:

My body belongs to me.
My feelings matter.
My voice deserves to be heard.
I have the right to feel safe.
I have the right to be ME. 💙

What a powerful foundation to carry with them as they prepare for school and beyond. 🌱

Our educators do so much more than teach. They comfort, encourage, inspire, listen, laugh, wipe away tears, celebrate little victories and create a place where every child can feel safe, loved and like they truly belong.

We swapped the classroom for the vineyard, taking some well-deserved time together to laugh, connect and celebrate the incredible team behind our centre. 🍷❤️

At Milestones Mudgee, Reconciliation Week is an important opportunity for us to reflect, learn, and celebrate the rich histories, cultures, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

As a service located on Wiradjuri Country, we are committed to helping children develop a deep respect and appreciation for the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we learn, play, and grow. Through daily Acknowledgements of Country, storytelling, music, art experiences, cultural learning opportunities, and meaningful conversations, we encourage children to develop an understanding of connection to Country, community, and culture from an early age.

We believe that reconciliation begins with education, respect, and a willingness to listen and learn together. By nurturing children’s understanding of Australia’s First Nations peoples, we help build a future generation that values inclusion, respect, and belonging for all.
