New Mobile Library Van
Bathurst Region residents are set to benefit from a new mobile library van after Council received a $300,000 grant from the New South Wales Government.
Thanks to this funding, Council will be able to provide a brand-new mobile library van to continue and improve outreach services to our rural villages, schools and home library users. It will also function as an engaging pop-up service at local events to support community connection and access to library services for the next decade.
The Bathurst Mobile Library Van initiative reflects Council’s commitment to innovation, equity and community wellbeing and is designed for long-term sustainability, with operational integration into Bathurst Library’s core services and ongoing financial support from Council and State Government funding.

Last week, our students participated in the "Small Talk" debating competition against Hargarves Public School. The schools involved in the competition are Glen Alice, Hargraves, Hill End and Lue.
Hudson, Imogen and Adalyn were our team who debated against the topic" Homework is helpful for learning".
The trio argued that homework does not always help students learn. They explained their reasons clearly and confidently, showing that they had prepared well.
Hudson, Imogen and Adalyn stood out for their excellent performance and made our school proud of their participation in the competition.
The "Small Talk" debating competition is a fantastic opportunity that highlights the remarkable talents and achievements of small schools. It provides a supportive platform for students from smaller communities to develop their critical thinking, public speaking, and teamwork skills. This competition not only fosters confidence and camaraderie among participants but also showcases the impressive capabilities of small schools, proving that size is no barrier to excellence. Through this event, small schools have the chance to shine and demonstrate their unique strengths in the art of debate.

Welcome back to Term 2! The students enjoyed a restful and fun holiday and are ready for another exciting term of learning together.
This term, we will be exploring the fascinating topic of weather. We’ll investigate what causes different types of weather, learn about the seasons, and discover how weather affects our daily lives. From sunny days to rainy afternoons, we’ll use experiments, observations, and creative activities to help us understand our world. We can’t wait to see the students curiosity and teamwork as we explore weather together.
Let’s get started and make Term 2 a wonderful learning adventure!

Yesterday we had an afternoon tea to thank Mrs Kimm for the wonderful years that she has spent at Hill End Public School.
The students all had lovely memories that they shared with Mrs Kimm about the time in class that they had spent with her.
We all hope that Mrs Kimm enjoys spending more time with her grandchildren and doing her art.

Hill End Public School's Year 6 student Sage Booth had a fantastic day competing at the recent Zone Swimming Carnival. She showed great skill and determination in her races, making her one of the top swimmers in the event.
In the freestyle race, Sage demonstrated excellent speed and technique. Freestyle is often considered the fastest swimming stroke, and Sage’s ability to finish in second place highlights her strong swimming endurance and good pace throughout the race. Her powerful kicks and smooth arm movements helped her maintain a competitive edge from start to finish.
In the backstroke event, Sage finished third, showing her versatility as a swimmer. Backstroke requires a different technique compared to freestyle, focusing more on timing and coordination of the arms and legs. Sage’s strong finish in this race proves she has practiced and mastered multiple swimming styles, which is impressive in a competitive carnival setting.
Well done, Sage, for your excellent effort and great results!
