📚🎶 What a wonderful Book Week celebration! – A Symphony of Stories 🎶📚
What a fantastic afternoon of books, characters and stories we shared at school! 💙📖
Our students embraced the opportunity to dress up as their favourite book characters, filling our school with creativity, colour and plenty of smiles. From carefully created costumes to simple accessories and outfits from home, it was wonderful to see every student celebrating Book Week in their own special way. 🌟
Students enjoyed our Story Sharing Afternoon, listening to teachers share some of their favourite books. 📚❤️ There were plenty of wonderful stories, enthusiastic listeners and lots of opportunities to share what makes books so special.
It was wonderful to see our school community come together to celebrate the joy of reading and the stories we all love.
A huge thank you to our students, staff and families for helping make the afternoon such a success! 👏
We loved seeing all the amazing book characters and hearing the stories behind their choices. Together, we created our very own “Symphony of Stories”! 🎵📚✨

📚✨ BOOK WEEK 2026 – STORY SHARING AFTERNOON! ✨📚
This afternoon, our students will be immersed in the joy of stories as our teachers share some of their favourite books with our classes. It will be a wonderful opportunity for students to celebrate reading, discover new stories and enjoy the magic of books together.
Don’t forget to come to school today dressed up as your favourite book character! 🧙‍♂️🧚‍♀️🦸‍♀️
🌧️ Wet Weather Plan: Students will remain in their classrooms while teachers move between classes to share their stories. Year 1 will enjoy their story session in the Library, while Stage 3 will utilise the Hall and COLA areas.

🏑 PSSA Hockey in the Pouring Rain! 🌧️

Our Girls Hockey Team braved the pouring rain at Glen Willow today as they took on Cooerwull Public School in the next round of the PSSA competition.

Despite the challenging conditions, the girls showed incredible determination, teamwork and resilience. We are so proud of the way they represented CVPS! 💚

📚✨ Book Week at Cudgegong Valley Public School! ✨📚
At Cudgegong Valley Public School, Book Week isn’t just celebrated for one day — we’re celebrating all week long! 📖💫
There are lots of fun, book-related activities happening for our students to enjoy. One of our favourites is our Teacher Favourite Book Guessing Challenge! Can you guess which book was a particular teacher’s favourite when they were a child? 🤔📚
Throughout the term, students have also been enjoying listening to some of the Book Week shortlisted books during library lessons.
Our 1S students were especially excited to discover that their favourite book, The Emperor’s Egg, was named Early Childhood Book of the Year! 🐧🥚🎉
We’re loving celebrating our shared love of stories and books throughout Book Week! ❤️📚

Stage 3 concluded our Learning Conversations, with students proudly sharing their progress and working alongside their families and teachers to set meaningful next steps for the future.

Thank you to all our families who joined us throughout the past two weeks to celebrate student learning and growth. 📚✨

📚 Author Visit! ✍️
On Friday 21 August, we were incredibly lucky to welcome author Lisa Nicol to our school to lead writing workshops with students in Years 2–6.
Students explored the importance of adding small details to bring their writing to life and had the opportunity to put these tips into practice themselves.
A huge thank you to the Mudgee Readers Festival and Lisa Nicol for making this wonderful experience possible. It was fantastic for our students to learn writing tips and inspiration from a published author — and what a wonderful way to kick off our Book Week celebrations! 📖✨

This week at Cudgegong Valley Public School, our Week 5 focus is Being Safe.

At Cudgegong Valley Public School, we are responsible learners who are safe and respectful by making safe choices.

Throughout the week, students will be learning about:
- wearing hats and being sun safe
- walking on concrete and moving calmly around the school
- using equipment and resources safely
- using safe words and actions
- looking out for one another and telling an adult if something feels unsafe

By making safe choices every day, we help create a school where everyone can feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

📚🎶 BOOK WEEK 2026 – A SYMPHONY OF STORIES! 🎶📚
We’re excited to celebrate Book Week on Wednesday 26 August with an afternoon filled with books, stories and reading!
🌟 Students are invited to dress up as their favourite book character! Costumes can be as simple or creative as you like – homemade costumes, accessories or clothes you already have at home are all wonderful choices.
📖 Instead of our traditional whole-school parade, we’ll be celebrating with a Story Sharing Afternoon. Teachers will share some of their favourite stories with different classes, creating a calmer and more inclusive celebration for everyone.
💙 Families are warmly invited to join us from 2:15pm to listen to stories and share the joy of reading with their children. Our event will be held on the field. Keep an eye out in next week’s newsletter for a map outlining where classes will be situated.
Everyone is welcome to participate in a way that feels comfortable for them – whether that’s a full costume, a simple accessory or simply coming along ready to enjoy a good story.
We can’t wait to celebrate our very own “Symphony of Stories” with our school community! 🎵📚✨
