✨ Florals & Fairies Goes International! ✨

We are incredibly excited to share some wonderful news about Florals & Fairies – Botanical & Mystical, one of the sugar art collaborations organised and presented by ACADA this year.

Florals & Fairies brought together sugar artists from around the world for a magical celebration of creativity, craftsmanship and imagination. Inspired by nature and fairy tales, our artists created their own interpretations of a world where flowers bloom, fairies wander and reality gives way to a little bit of magic. 🌸🧚✨

And now that magic is travelling even further!

🎉 Florals & Fairies has been published in the September/October edition of American Cake Decorating magazine!

This is a fantastic achievement for everyone involved and an opportunity for our artists to be seen by the international sugar art community.

Print copies and subscriptions are available at:

💜 Why are collaborations so important to ACADA?

Because creativity doesn't always have to be a competition. There doesn't need to be a first, second or third place. Sometimes the greatest achievement is challenging yourself, creating something you love and sharing it with others who understand your passion.

Every artist contributes their own piece, but together they tell a much bigger story – one of creativity, friendship, learning, diversity and a worldwide community connected through sugar art.

International publication makes that story even bigger. A creation made at a kitchen table or in a small studio anywhere in the world can suddenly be seen and appreciated by people the artist has never met.

For ACADA, that's what collaborations are all about – creating opportunities, connecting artists across borders, celebrating their talent and helping the world recognise sugar art for what it truly is: ART. ❤️

✨ And we're doing it all again! ✨

ACADA will launch NEW sugar art collaborations in 2027, and everyone is welcome.

You don't need to be famous. You don't need to be the best.
You just need to love creating.

Keep an eye out for our 2027 announcements – next year it could be YOUR creation being shared with the world! 🌎✨

Thank you to our amazing ICSA 2026 competition judges. They came from all parts of Australia and from across the globe.

Some of our highly experienced senior judges this year were from other Australian associations and guilds. The majority are also ACADA members. This year was an excellent example of what can be achieved when Australia’s associations and guilds all come together to deliver this incredible competition for Australia. When we all work together, we all learn and grow

In addition to having highly skilled world class senior judges who have competed in and won prestigious competitions themselves, at ACADA we also believe it’s so important to train our own new judges so our members have the opportunity to train along side and be mentored by the industry’s best and to learn world class competition practices. All of our trainee judges are multi award winning cake (or cookie) artists who have also consistently won gold. They understand how every competitor feels, because they’ve walked in your shoes

At the show our trainee judges are always paired with highly experienced judges, they never judge by themselves.

This year we conducted competitor and judges surveys after the show. Thank you to everyone who took the time to provide feedback.

We’re now working through all the feedback and will be using your suggestions to build a competition and show we can all be super proud of. We’re really excited about your suggestions snd recommendations. Thank you!

Thank you also to our incredibly hard working stewarding team. We think you’re simply amazing!

After the show it can feel like an anti climax. None of us want the fun and connectivity to stop. We’ve got exciting news! The fun hasn’t stopped yet, we’re almost ready to release our biggest competition yet. Stay tuned the ACADA Global Online Competition is launching very soon!

Comment below if you’d like be the first in the know. If you’d like to be one of the first to receive the schedule, once it’s released, pop your name into the comments below and we’ll send it to you. Every class has great prizes locked in. We’re super excited! 🤩🏆👏.

Make sure you tag your sugar besties in

I can’t help it! Yes she’s edible! No she’s not Marie Antoinette! We just couldn’t throw away Madam Fetes Head at the end of the show. This life sized sugar creation was created in Adelaide transported with her body to International Cake Show Australia in Brisbane in huge boxes by plane and entertained thousands over the three days of the show!

Unfortunately like many of our huge incredible sugar exhibits and competition pieces, that take months to create, her body ended up in the dumpster, however her head lived on and created lots of fun (yes a little macabre) but so many memorable moments. Thank you to Leah Walton from CAKE DOLL L'amour for creating her and Rachel from upon a time cookies for managing the live exhibit

Did you snap a pic with Madame Fete or of her at the show? If you did please keep her memory, and your experience of this great weekend alive, share them in the comments. We’d absolutely like be to see them

So many incredibly proud moments. We absolutely LOVED all your smiles. This is the biggest night of the year. It's when all cake and cookie artists dust off their aprons, put on their party clothes, leave their solitary cake or cookie benches, and kick their heels up.... and boy didn't you scrub up and do it well!

YOU are the reason ACADA exists. We love nothing more than showcasing your talent and putting the spotlight on you. THIS IS YOUR NIGHT! Congratulations!

If you aren't already an ACADA member, and want more moments like this, and to be able to skyrocket your careers and skills to a whole new level, ACADA Memberships is definitely something you should seriously consider.

Celebrating some of the very special exhibits at International Cake Show Australia a few weeks ago. Bringing inspirtional sugar art to Australia to motivate and inspire you is what ICSA is all about.

This piece of incredible edible art was a huge drawcard in the competition zone. So many people stopped to enjoy it's beauty, including my own family who know absolutely nothing about sugar craft or the huge amount of time and passion our wonderful community across the world invests in their creations. My daughter kept coming to me in the organisers office saying "mum have you seen that incredible wafer paper exhibit in the competition zone yet?".

For those who didn't get to visit the International Cake Show Australia in Brisbane this year to soak up the beauty yourself, here's a sneak peek at the wafer paper flower exhibit made by Nadia from Chokolate Designs from Belgium. It won 1st place in class and scored 100%. Every element was photo realistic and absolutely perfect. I hope you enjoy it's beauty as much as we did.

Nadia's flowers don't only look realistic, they act like it. She doesn't use wires, she uses specifically designed wafer paper threads that allow her flowers to naturally flow and bend in the breeze. Even her magnificant vase was tailor designed and hand-sculpted entirely from wafer paper. It's no wonder this exhibit was such a huge drawcard. Congratulations Nadia. We look forward to welcoming you back to share your amazing skills. 👏👏👏

Let us know if you'd like to learn wafer paper floral art from a multi-award winning sugar artist recognised as one of the world's best. We are looking at a series of mid year travelling workshops designed to raise your skills to an entirely new, world class competition level. If you are interested please comment below. If we get enough interest the tour will include Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. More locations including New Zealand will be added dependant on the demand.

Comment Yes and let us know whether you'd be interested in a masterclass or a travelling workshop, and your state if you'ld like Nadia to be incuded in the tour, or to teach a very special masterclass at the next show.
