This first Term has focused very much on settling children and supporting those with separation anxiety. With two weeks left, they are almost all quite relaxed and enthused 😊 The Program has delighted in the staples of Kindergarten : block construction; pasting; playdough; puzzles and the pretend play in Home Corner. As well as this we have celebrated Chinese New Year, Indian Holi Day and this week as Harmony Week. It has been a joyous time together ❤️
An incursion by the Rock Pool has us exploring and learning about sea creatures! ( Nothing like seeing a seahorse or Port Jackson Shark up close!)

Even though we have begun to discuss Winter, the environmental changes of Autumn are still significant in our outdoor spaces, so we have continued with the children's interest in these activities. Care of our natural environment is highlighted in the discussion of sea turtles and recycling, and bathing "babies" is a lovely sensory and dramatic play extension of our families discussion. Currently the children are excited at guessing each other from baby photos as a result of the picture book "Guess the Baby " and are very amused at the staffs photos 🤣
We are also looking forward to exploring facts about Japanese culture in readiness for our zoom cross culture exchange next term 😍

Lots of Autumn Fun: the autumn corner an annual sensory attraction ✨️ many thanks to the Baddeley family for collecting these again from their garden for the 14th year? More? 😅❤️ the children just adore throwing, rolling, kicking, sliding, crunching and hiding in here!!!
The program has included much discussion and creative work arising from Autumn and it's environmental changes ....
Discussion too of important social issues such as Earth Day 🌏and Sorry Day 😪
Every day is rich with children's play, their voice, and learning. ❤️😍

One of the reasons we focus on play based activities. Be wary of those who present lots of worksheets at this stage of development as many children find these too challenging and then effectively "turn off "this avenue of learning needed later. Attitude and success is everything 😉

Happy Holiday to everyone. 😊😍 Time to relax a bit and not have to worry about where and when you have to be somewhere.....
We look forward to Term 2 on Monday 24th April and hearing about the children's holiday experiences ❤️
