🧚 Build a fairy garden — use sticks, leaves, stones and flowers to create a tiny world.

🏃 Nature obstacle course — jump over sticks, weave between trees, balance along a path and hop between “stepping stones”.

🎨 Nature art — collect fallen leaves and create pictures, patterns or funny faces.

🐾 Animal detective — look for footprints, feathers, nests and signs of animals.

💦 Puddle play — after the rain, put on the gumboots and see what you can discover!

🌈 Colour hunt — choose a colour and see how many things in nature you can find.

🌳 Tree adventure — find your favourite tree and sit underneath it for five quiet minutes. What can you hear?

We love to kick-start the week with Monday Funday — a time for creative play, curiosity, imagination and learning! 💚

There’s something so special about watching our Highmount children immerse themselves in play, experiment with new ideas, create, explore and use their wonderful imaginations to make learning their own. 🧩🎨🔍🌱

And one of our favourite moments? Pick-up time! 🥰

Hearing the children excitedly tell their families all about what they discovered, created and experimented with throughout the day is always a highlight — and such a beautiful way to start the week ahead. 💫

🦷 Dental Health Awareness Week | 3–9 August 😁

A healthy smile starts with healthy habits!

At Highmount Preschool, we’re encouraging our little learners to build strong oral health habits that will last a lifetime.

Here are some simple ways families can support healthy smiles at home:
🪥 Brush teeth twice a day for 2 minutes
🦷 Use a pea-sized amount of fluoride toothpaste
🥕 Choose healthy snacks and drink plenty of water
🪥 Replace toothbrushes every 3 months (or sooner if worn)
😊 Visit the dentist regularly for check-ups

Good oral health helps children eat, speak, learn and smile with confidence.

In a world that often feels busy, children don’t need packed schedules to grow—they need time.

Time to imagine.

Sometimes the most meaningful moments happen when children are simply given the freedom to explore at their own pace. A cardboard box becomes a spaceship, a stick becomes a magic wand, and a walk around the block turns into an exciting adventure.

This weekend, try putting the phones away for a little while and let your child lead the day. You might be surprised by where their imagination takes you.

Welcome back to Term 3! We hope everyone had a wonderful, restful break and enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends.

💚 What an Incredible Day at Highmount Preschool! 💚

Today was a wonderful reminder of the strength of our Highmount community.

A heartfelt thank you to all of the amazing parents and families who generously gave their time to attend our Term Working Bee. Your hard work, enthusiasm and support have made such a meaningful difference.

Thanks to your incredible efforts, our preschool is looking fresh, clean and ready to welcome our Highmount little explorers back for another exciting term filled with learning, laughter, play and discovery.

Every swept path, cleaned play space and refreshed garden reflects the care and pride our community has in creating the very best environment for our children.

We are so grateful to be part of such a caring and supportive kindergarten family. It truly takes a village, and today showed just how special the Highmount community really is.

✨ Once upon a winter’s evening in 2025… ✨

One day, little Princess Charlotte had a wonderful idea…

“Mummy, can we have a disco with all my Golden Wattle Kinder friends?” 💛

The very next day, Charlotte’s Mummy and Daddy came to the rescue! With the support of our amazing Highmount community, that little idea quickly grew into something truly magical…

🎉 Highmount Preschool’s Annual Winter Fundraising Disco! 🎉

Our preschool came alive with music, laughter, dancing and smiling faces as families gathered to celebrate, connect and create special memories together.

From our tiniest dancers showing off their best moves to parents joining in the fun, the dance floor was filled with joy from beginning to end. 💃🕺❄️

What began as one little girl’s dream has become a beautiful Highmount tradition, bringing families together through friendship, fun and community spirit.

Our original Golden Wattle dancers were the very first children to attend Highmount’s inaugural Winter Disco. One year later, many of those same children returned as proud members of our Silver Banksia class, celebrating the end of another wonderful term together. Watching them grow, build lasting friendships and create precious memories is what makes our Highmount community so special. 💚

A heartfelt thank you to every family who attended, danced the night away, volunteered and supported our Annual Winter Fundraising Disco. Your generosity and community spirit help create enriching opportunities and memorable experiences for all of our Highmount children.

We would also like to sincerely thank our incredible Parent Committee, dedicated educators and staff, and everyone who worked behind the scenes to make this special evening possible. Together, you continue to make Highmount a place where children truly Play • Learn • Grow.
