Hi Team

It has been a very long first day at the Australasia Schools Karate Competition.
The event was peppered with players from all over Australia ,New Zealand, Fiji, New Caledonia and Pacific region. Many divisions had last years Oceania winners competing. Today’s standard was very high and the day was bitter sweet.

Our Medals were as follows
Teo u/12 kata Bronze....you are really cementing your place on the Australian tatamis.
Lucca u/14 kata Bronze...amazing first year in the division and first Australian kata medal.
Jamie u/14 kumite Bronze....should have been fighting for gold as his competitor was disqualified but then the referees reversed the decision...a bit of drama and upset we didn’t need.
Nino u/16 Bronze kumite.
Harry u/18 kata Bronze and u/18 kumite Silver...losing out to a New Zealand and Oceania champion.
Jes u/18 kumite GOLD, beating 2 current all styles National team members and Bronze in kata losing to the New Zealand and Oceania Champion 2 flags to 3...fighting back in repocharge. Both Jes and Harry are first year in to the Junior division.

So in short...
1 Gold
1 Silver
6 Bronze.
