Congratulations to Emerson on her outstanding netball achievements recently!

Emerson and her U14 Gold Cairns Pythons Team were crowned Division 3 Champions at the Netball Queensland Junior State Age Championships on the Gold Coast. 🏆

Adding to this incredible success, Emerson was also presented with the U14 Gold Coaches Award at the Cairns Pythons Presentation. A wonderful recognition of her dedication, teamwork and commitment throughout the season. 🏐👏

As part of our MacKillop Feast Day celebrations, our Year 8 students embraced the spirit of service by planting trees around our College grounds.

This meaningful activity not only helped enhance our environment but also reflected the values of stewardship, community, and care for creation that are central to the legacy of Saint Mary MacKillop.

We are proud of our Year 8 students for their enthusiasm and commitment to making a positive contribution to our College. These trees will serve as a lasting reminder of the difference we can make when we work together in service of others and our environment.

From our Primary Science Fair and Secondary displays, to the Super Science Circus Show, science demonstrations, the inspiring Unserious Careers talk, and performances from our Primary Dance and Cheer groups, there was something for everyone!

🎭📖 𝐇𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲, 𝐋𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐄𝐱𝐜𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

Our Year 12 Literature students recently had the opportunity to delve into Hamlet with Mrs Sarah Coleman, unpacking the text's complexities and examining the historical ideas and themes that continue to resonate today. Sarah also provided valuable feedback to our Year 11 Modern History students on their recent work, offering insights and guidance to support their continued growth and understanding of historical inquiry.

Beyond the classroom, Sarah has been making a significant impact in the Humanities community. As a member of the QHTA Management Committee, she recently attended the HTAA National Conference, where she presented on her PhD research into teaching Cleopatra through a feminist framework and shared innovative approaches to History pedagogy in her presentation, A Pedagogical Platter.

Sarah also chaired a panel on AI in History Education and continues to support teachers and students across the country through her published works, with two of her books proudly used at our College.

We are proud to have such a passionate and accomplished educator inspiring our students every day!

Our Grade 9 students have been hard at work revising key concepts and practising problem solving strategies in preparation for their upcoming Mathematics test.

Through collaborative activities, guided practice, and review exercises, students have been building their confidence and strengthening their understanding of the topics covered this term.

🎶🙏 𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝟓 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐥𝐲 🙏🎶

Our Week 5 Primary Assembly was a wonderful celebration of faith, leadership and community.

Our Year 1 students did an amazing job leading us in prayer and song, and we were delighted to welcome the NET Team, who had our Primary students singing along with enthusiasm and joy.

We were proud to celebrate our Primary Leaders, who were recently acknowledged by Terry James MP for their contribution and leadership within the community. Their commitment to serving others is something to be truly proud of.

A special congratulations also goes to Mr Gill on his Docemus Nomination, recognising his dedication and service to our school community.

Thank you to all students, staff and visitors who helped make the assembly such a memorable occasion.

Congratulations to our MacKillop athletes on an exceptional showing at this year's TCS Track & Field Carnivals! 🎉

Our Years 10-12 team delivered an outstanding performance at Barlow Park, taking out 1st place overall against 15 schools across the district. At the same time, our Years 13-19 athletes also impressed at their dedicated carnival, finishing among the top performing schools on the day.

These achievements are a testament to the hard work, determination and commitment of all our athletes, who demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship, teamwork and MacKillop spirit throughout their events.

We are incredibly proud of all our students and the way they embodied the values of MacKillop. Congratulations on these fantastic results! 💙💛

⛏️💛 Our Year 5 students recently stepped back in time during an exciting Gold Rush Incursion presented by the Cairns Historical Society!

Through interactive story stations, students explored the discovery of gold and its impact on the development of Far North Queensland. The highlight of the day was getting hands on with a portable mining technique and trying their luck at panning for gold! A fun and memorable learning experience for all. 🌟
