We’ve just wrapped up an incredible Term 3 at Maths Tuition by Amy Skene, and we couldn’t be more proud of the progress our students have made. 👏✨

After 6 years of business, we’ve never done the number crunching… until now!

📚 190 hours of tuition dedicated to building strong mathematical foundations
👩‍🎓 35 students guided and empowered to reach their goals
👩‍🏫 4 excellent tutors leading the way with passion and expertise

Each session brought us closer to helping our students grow in confidence and skill. Whether it’s nailing algebra, mastering geometry, or prepping for exams, we’re here every step of the way. 🚀

I had the privilege of participating in the Civil Society and Youth Forum as a part of the 53rd Pacific Island Forum Leaders Meeting, in Tonga 🇹🇴

This gathering emphasised the importance of youth involvement and the significant role they play in shaping our future.

The Samoa agreement was a focal point of discussion. There was key emphasis on youth involvement as the starting point and implementation challenges.

Today, I resonated with the concept of inclusiveness and transparency, as I am committed to reflecting these values in my business and amongst staff.

Another point raised sparked my attention — existing frameworks are still colonised, which can hinder true grassroots engagement. Exacerbating this, is the lack of representation of Indigenious voices.

We finished the day with break out groups, proposing recommendations to address the issues for Youth Empowerment, Education and Health.

We were briefly interrupted by a 6.6 magnitude earthquake, a stark reminder of the vulnerabilities our island nations face.

This meeting was a powerful reminder of the challenges we face but also the resilience and determination of our Pacific communities to address them head-on.

I was very fortunate and lucky to attend such an important Global event 🌍

We have some openings on Monday nights from 4:30pm. All work is via zoom with notes accessible 24/7.

I’m less than 2 weeks away from my next placement (in Tonga 🇹🇴!!)

And… my life has never been more hectic *well okay — it has*. But I’m trying to smash out my 2 assignments (so I don’t have to submit them when I’m over there), prepare myself to research my Capstone *thesis equivalent* question, arrange tutoring sessions etc. etc. etc.

It made me reflect on a time where life was also hectic (aka. Placement in Alice Springs). I took on the full time balancing act of teaching 8-3:30, to tutor from 4-8pm. It’s safe to say that I learnt my lesson. I will not be repeating that mistake. BUT - what can you expect?! How else does someone make money when on placement. It is unpaid work. A LOT of work and effort goes into these experiences.

Whilst my life was extremely hectic at this stage, it was one of the best things that could have happened. I learned to be culturally responsive, learned to have and maintain boundaries and connected with Country.

Experiences like this make my heart full 🫶🏽 … Bring on Tonga 🗺️

So I did a thing…

You’ve probably seen this already, given that I’ve been posting in the last couple of days!!

However, I’m on uni break & it’s school holidays! So I’ve been putting extra effort into my small little business recently.

My next step forward is to conduct some CRT training for a homeschool academy next week for Maths teaching online, to publish some more resources for everyone & lastly, find some more students for my new tutor I have onboarded 👀👩🏼‍💻☺️
