Safe Sleep Saves Lives. Today, as part of Red Nose Day, we’re taking the opportunity to help raise awareness across our community about safe sleeping practices for babies and young children.

Safe sleep is something we can all help promote. Red Nose recommends six key steps to help reduce the risk of sudden unexpected death in infancy:

• Always place baby on their back to sleep
• Keep baby’s head and face uncovered
• Keep baby smoke free before and after birth
• Provide a safe sleeping environment, night and day
• Sleep baby in their own safe sleep space in a parent or caregiver’s room for the first six months
• Breastfeed baby where possible

We’ll continue sharing safe sleep information throughout the day because these simple, evidence-based messages are incredibly important.

Please help us spread the word, have the conversations and share the knowledge. The more our community knows about safe sleep, the more we can work together to keep little ones safe.

And another HUGE shout out to all of our amazing children and families for the incredible creativity we’ve seen this Book Week.

The outfits have been absolutely fantastic, and we’ve even loved seeing some of our families getting into the spirit too, dressing up for their own workplaces and joining in the fun beyond our centre.

The imagination, effort and excitement coming through each day has made this week extra special.

We have ONE MORE DAY TO GO, so let’s make it count! Keep the costumes coming, keep taking those photos and let’s finish Book Week 2026 with a bang!

Red Nose Day ❤️ Safe Sleep Conversations

Today, alongside rocking our red noses, our classrooms spent time having some really important conversations about safe sleep.

One of our Kindergarten groups took the discussion even further, sharing their own ideas about what helps make sleep spaces safe. The children drew their thoughts and explained some of the safety messages they already know, including keeping toys and devices out of beds, thinking about blankets and bedding, and creating a sleep space that feels safe and comfortable.

It was wonderful to hear the children’s voices coming through so strongly as they shared their knowledge, asked questions and built on one another’s ideas.

There are so many ways we can support children to understand safety, and giving them opportunities to talk, draw, question and share is such an important part of that learning.

Watch this space as we continue sharing more of our Red Nose Day learning and, most importantly, hear more directly from the voices of our children.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Cocoa Painting.

This morning we added a little chocolatey twist to our painting experience by mixing cocoa into brown paint, and the children noticed the difference straight away!

There were lots of big smiles as everyone took a sniff and excitedly announced, “It smells like chocolate!”

The children quickly began making connections between the cocoa scent and some of their favourite chocolate treats. Cupcakes and chocolate cake were popular choices, while others decided a chocolate dinosaur or even a chocolate donut sounded pretty amazing!

A deliciously scented Book Week experience combining creativity, sensory exploration, language and imagination.

The Cat in the Hat stacking cups were a VERY popular choice at the tables today.

The children put their critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work as they carefully balanced each cup on top of another, placing a piece of paper between each layer to create the brim of the Cat’s famous hat and help stabilise their towers.

There was plenty of concentration, experimenting, rebuilding and determination as the towers grew taller and taller. A simple Book Week experience packed with learning, laughter and a whole lot of balancing FUN!

Another FUN day in the kitchen for Book Week📚

Our meals have been jumping straight off the pages of some much-loved stories, and today’s creations were definitely worth a second look!

From You’ve Got Yoghurt in Your Nostrils with a delicious yoghurt, fruit and cereal spread, to Blossom Possum inspired sandwiches, and a little Charlie and the Chocolate Factory magic with colourful fruit and chocolatey treats, the kitchen has been having just as much Book Week fun as our classrooms.

We absolutely LOVE seeing stories come to life through food, conversation and creativity. Who knew Book Week could taste this good?

Ever had one of those "What should I be doing with my child?" moments? You might already have the answer at home.

Earlier this year, every Goodstart family received a What & When for Families guide for each child. If it's been tucked away in a drawer since then, now might be the perfect time to pull it back out.

The guide is packed with simple, play-based activities that support your child's learning and development at home. Best of all, it's written in your child's voice, with ideas tailored to their age and developmental stage.

From singing songs with babies and playing peek-a-boo, to "I Spy" games, storytelling and treasure hunts with older children, the activities are designed to fit naturally into everyday moments you already share together.

We know learning doesn't only happen in the classroom. Those small moments at home can help build big communication, language and literacy skills.

The incredible Book Week outfits just keep coming!

Our educators AND our children are absolutely embracing their favourite book characters each and every day, bringing stories to life in so many fun, creative and colourful ways.

The costumes coming through have been incredible, and we love seeing the excitement across the service as everyone joins in.

We have already seen so many fantastic outfits, and there are still plenty more to come.
