Welcome to the Contemporary Vocal Studies at WAAPA page. The Contemporary Vocal course is an intensive 4 year long vocal performance degree studied at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts in Perth, Western Australia. It is a repertoire based performance degree that offers weekly ensemble sessions (with bands), vocal workshops, vocal repertoire classes, one on one lessons, performance

skills classes, choir and gospel choir. As well as the core music units of theory, aural and history, there are many performance assessment points throughout semester and the singers will find themselves singing in one capacity or another every single day they are at WAAPA. The Contemporary Voice department at WAAPA is one of the fastest growing departments, boasting well over 60 vocalists across all four year groups. The vocalists are given many performance opportunities including; WAAPA In The Park, Radioactive at All Saints College, Radioactive Albany at the Albany Entertainment Centre and Radioactive Perth held at WAAPA, plus many more. The Contemporary Voice department is staffed by some of Australia's finest vocal specialists including Matt Allen, Victoria Newton, Carrie Pereira, Allira Wilson and Melody Itzstein.
