🌟 PBL Focus Fortnight: Be Respectful - I Include Others 🌟

This fortnight, our focus is "Be Respectful: I Include Others." Students will be learning the importance of making everyone feel welcome, valued, and included in our school community.

We will be encouraging children to:

βœ… Invite others to join in games and activities
βœ… Use kind and respectful words
βœ… Listen to and value the ideas of others
βœ… Show empathy and support for their peers

Throughout the fortnight, students will have opportunities to practise these skills in the classroom and on the playground. By including others, they help create a positive environment where everyone feels they belong.

⭐ We look forward to seeing our students demonstrate kindness, respect, and inclusiveness as they strengthen our school community.

🌟 PBL Focus Fortnight: Be a Learner - I Work By Myself 🌟

This fortnight, our focus is "Be a Learner: I Work By Myself." Students will be developing their independence by completing tasks on their own, staying focused, and showing confidence in their abilities.

We will be encouraging children to:

βœ… Try things for themselves before asking for help
βœ… Stay on task and persevere when work becomes challenging
βœ… Make choices independently
βœ… Take pride in their own achievements and effort

Throughout the fortnight, students will have opportunities to practise these skills and build their confidence as independent learners. We look forward to seeing them embrace challenges, show resilience, and take responsibility for their learning.

⭐ We can't wait to celebrate their growth and achievements over the coming weeks!

🌟 Fortnightly PBL Focus: Be Respectful – I Use Kind Words 🌟

At Mount Isa Special School, we are continuing to build a positive and supportive school community by focusing on Be Respectful: I Use Kind Words.

Kind words help others feel valued, included, and supported. Whether we're talking to our classmates, staff, family members, or friends, the words we choose can make a big difference to someone's day. πŸ’™

Over the next fortnight, students will be learning and practising ways to: ✨ Use polite and friendly language
✨ Give compliments and encouragement
✨ Say "please" and "thank you"
✨ Speak kindly when working and playing with others
✨ Think about how their words affect people around them

We encourage families to join in at home by recognising and celebrating kind words whenever you hear them. Together, we can help our students create a culture of respect, kindness, and belonging.

πŸ’¬ Kind words cost nothing, but they can mean everything.

🌟 PBL Focus Fortnight: Be a Learner – I Am Ready to Learn 🌟

At Mount Isa Special School, our Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) focus for this fortnight is "Be a Learner: I Am Ready to Learn."

A big shout out to our Junior Secondary 2 students, who have been doing a fantastic job showing what it means to be ready to learn each day. From following routines, participating in activities, and giving their best effort, they are setting a wonderful example for others.

Being ready to learn helps students make the most of every opportunity and supports a positive and successful learning environment for everyone.

πŸŽ‰ Well done, Junior Secondary 2! We are proud of the way you are demonstrating our PBL expectations and showing a positive attitude towards learning.

🌟 Fortnight Focus 🌟

Welcome back! For the first two weeks of Term after the holidays, we are focusing on building communication, confidence, and positive learning behaviours.

πŸ’¬ AAC Word of the Fortnight: STOP

We are encouraging students to use the word "stop" to communicate their needs and keep themselves and others safe. For example, "Stop please" or "Stop, I don't like that." Practising this word helps students develop self-advocacy, communication, and safety skills.

πŸŽ“ PBL Focus: Be a Learner

Our focus is: Be a Learner – I am ready to learn.

Students are learning what it means to be ready for learning by following routines, listening to instructions, participating in activities, and having a positive attitude towards learning opportunities.

πŸ‘ We appreciate your support in reinforcing these skills at home by encouraging your child to use their AAC words, communicate their needs, and practise being ready to learn each day. Together, we can help build their confidence and success at school. 🌟
